I live in the country, porch pirates aren't a problem here.

I read a lot about the porch pirates on the nextdoor app.   With all the notifications I get and check to see when my packages are coming I haven't had any issues so far because I am usually home and know when my packages are coming. As cold as it is outside you would think the porch pirates would lay low but I know people are crazy now a days.

I'm always at home so I bring my packages inside almost as soon as they get on my porch. I wouldn't know about the rest of the neighborhood and that situ with porch pirates.

My pirates were in the Amazon warehouse down the street. In house thieves. I took my refund and went to Walmart myself instead.

@katie1859 Literally and not many people have cameras, I think it is kids looking for a lark

And what sticks in my head was an incident during the summer. Our neighbor across the street, went on vacation. While they were away several large packages were delivered. The packages sat by their front door for 4 - 5 days.

I wanted to take the packages and give them to our neighbor when they returned. My husband said to leave them alone. The neighbor had several family members living in the area. And maybe they were going to pick up the packages and I might cause problems if the packages were no longer there.

The packages were rather large so they were clearly visible from the street, if someone was looking to grab them.

@drizzellla - THIS is why I miss QVC's old check policy.

Our neighborhood empties in July. We go away that month too. I have good friends who would help, but they're not here either. Neighbors on both sides are away; one is from Europe and goes to visit family every summer for the whole summer.

I can always hold the mail with USPS, but I can't hold UPS. One summer after trying delivery 3 times and leaving the little yellow slip, they sent my package back to QVC. Of course I couldn't get it back because it was sold out.

I started doing what a helpful CS rep recommended. I ordered an item with a check, and changed it to a credit card shortly before we left to come back.

Now I try not to order anything weeks before we leave or until right before we come back. Once in a while it's hard to resist, and I just hold my breath. Smiley Frustrated

No, have never had a problem in my neighborhood.

But car break-ins at the grocery store parking lot and beach parking lot are prevalent.  It is a gang traveling up from the south the police say.

Fortunately no. I have lived in my house for 21 years and have never had a package stolen. However,  I used to have the Ring App, and I was surprised by just how many packages were being taken in the area, especially around this time of year.
