You never know what will be the thing that takes and helps.
Each person and each moment in their lives is different.
Never give up.
A mother's love and belief in her is the best thing a child can have through this journey.

I will just say this. My daughter unfortunately has had anxiety issues since a child. I have taken her to a therapist at the age of 12. No way would this mom have ever been a enabler ! Really ??
I am very aware of the work she needs to do and she is certainly worthwhile to me and her family !! She will get through this and I will give it all I have in me to help her not enable her. Many here have offered prayers and I am thankful for them.

No one can judge what another family is going through and what they have done from a post on a forum. Nor decide that the mother is an enabler. So unhelpful and not necesary at all.
Especially blatant statements like the one you made. It really really does not help.
I doubt very much you would want that kind of reply to yourself and someone pretending they know all about someones years of history in this journey and able to establish what they are with a pat label that many like to say as if it fits all circumstances.

@Goodie2shoes Your impassioned post brought tears to my eyes.😢 I echo the words of encouragement that have been expressed, and would like to add how BRAVE I think you are for having shared such an emotional account of your daughter's struggles with addiction.👍 She is indeed blessed to have such a dedicated, loving mother!❤
All of this must be taking a TREMENDOUS toll on you, so PLEASE take time for yourself to decompress if you have not already done so!😊
Her road to a sustained sobriety is going to be an arduous one, as will your unwavering, continuous support. I am sending heartfelt prayers of LOVE❤, COMFORT and HEALING for you and your family as you navigate this uncharted journey together!!!🙏🙏❤❤

Thank you so much for your kind words ! I have had my time of crying but I pray each day that she will overcome this demon and I believe prayers will be answered. She is not a daily drinking or fall down drunkard, she has experienced stressful situations as we all have had but she does not handle stress well and Covid really increased her anxiety. Her husband does not drink ( as someone mentioned he probably does) I don't drink anything but water and lemonade ! Thank you for your prayers ! God Bless

@Goodie2shoes Matthew Perry was a drug and alcohol addict from.the age of 12. Why don't you buy his book Friends, Lovers and The Big Terrible Thing: Memoirs. I understand it is very detailed about his struggles. Give it to your daughter to read. He was in and out of rehab 15 times and had 14 surgeries related to his addiction. You might want to read it for yourself. Just another tool to help.

@Goodie2shoes My sister has a grandaughter who has gone through this. Finally, after 3 or 4 trys she gave up the drugs and alcohol. I am praying that God will give your daughter the strength and courage she will need to get through this and bring some peace and hope into your heart as you stand by her. I also am asking God to give you wisdom on how to help her from your end. So often it's hard to know the best things to say and do but he can help you. Prayers and hugs to you both.
