PAPYRUS Card Stores to Close

[ Edited ]

Saw this on the news earlier, there is one in the strip mall around the corner from me. Sad to see any business close

Papyrus. They are card and stationery stores. They have beautiful stuff, but they are pricey.

I like Papyrus cards, but didn't know they had stand-alone stores.  I've seen Papyrus in supermarkets and, I think, Target.  I hope that part of the business survives, along with its website but that's not clear.

I saw that Papyrus is owned by the Schurman Retail Group, as in Marcel Schurman.  I used to buy Marcel Schurman cards all the time - they were classic, high quality cards, often printed in Europe.  They were the opposite of Hallmark's cutesy treacle.

They have cards and wrapping in both the grocery stores I go to.  I love them.  Never saw a Papyrus store.

Re: Payurus Card Stores to Close

Doesn't surprise me.

My mall has a store and it carries the most beautiful cards, stationary, gift bags and paper, wrapping paper, etc. I have never ever walked out even when half off with spending less than a small fortune; the stuff is expensive. HIGH quality so you definitely get what you pay for.

No one I know sends cards anymore. No one I know sends notes or letters anymore. I don't need or want any more "stuff" in my house anymore so shopping there ended....years ago for me.

What a shame and yet, not expected as we've moved to an online and casual society.
