go and see your doctor. please!
after some major surgery this year, a long term stint in the hospital, and in a rehab facility for almost two months, my mother has dropped close to 50 pounds and is now VERY underweight. we are VERY worried about her because she looks so frail. none of her clothes fit right anymore. her energy level is low. food has now become a constant battle.
.
the medicine they have prescribed for her is called MIRTAZAPINE. she is also on THC gummies to help increase her appetite. 5mg, three times a day, before meals.
wishing you good luck and better health!

I am not normally underweight. 5'4' and usually 140-155. Large boned so not real hefty!
I am not a sweets eater...plus my Dr said,"sugar is cancer food" and who needs that!
I eat a lot of eggs and potatoes and some veggies. I have always loved beef and now it is not appetizing at all!
I usually like any sandwiches but lately they aren't good...the bread is like so soft these days it's like dough!
I know...I've got it bad and that ain't good!
*I have contacted my PCP and have an appt soon. Just thought I would see what the posters here had to suggest! Sometimes, it's very, very good!
This is just a thought but depression could be part of your problem. Also, as far as bread, have you tried sourdough. It is not soft and is excellent with sandwiches. I do concur with the others about consulting your doctor. Take care.

I understand your point, but assumptions and self-diagnosis are never a good thing.
Three key basics for human survival .... oxygen, water and food.
If she's not able to consume enough food, she needs professional help.
As I stated, to see a Nutritionist once she knows there is nothing else wrong, but once she knows that a Nutritionist may be able to provide better advice than a MD who is not as trained in that area.
I agree with you but since we don't have any idea what her PCP is ... or isn't ... trained in, serious medical issues should be ruled out first.
And with many insurance carriers, a referral to a nutritionist may be necessary for payment.
JMO, of course.

Eat small snacks/meals more frequently.
I've never had your problem, but the opposite, yet.
Set more than move. Don't have to sleep much. (Advise you to do all with good health in mind),
Can eat a bit here and there, that's considered a little higher in calories than usual.
That's just a few. But do keep good nutrition in mind.

toast with peanut butter
oatmeal with berries, not fattening but good for you
olive oil based salad dressings, make your own

I would see about an appointment with a Registered Dietician. I have seen both a nutrionist and a R,D. My Dr recommended the R.D as they are medically trained with a degree in science I hope this helps.

I went thru a a year of that. Couldn't eat lost weight. I was going thru AFIB, and diverticulitis so didn't think much of it. ABIB stopped with ablation, I had surgery for diverticulitis issues, still persisted. Lost 50 lbs in a short period. I was getting too thin. One day had umteenth blood test and they found I had HPT elevation. Hypothyroid? AND vitamin D deficiency big time. Whether it developed all of a sudden dunno. I was also having palpatation, and those extra heart beats constantly. They said HPT was caused by D defincency. Took 50,000 units once a week for 10 weeks. By third week of taking heartbeat issue stopped, so did the constant weight loss. After that, I was fine. You never known. This had gone on for a year. I was hospitalized many times, had surgery had many blood tests. But maybe they didn't catch it or it came and went who knows. But please request blood work. I had no,appetite. Couldn't even eat til maybe 4. Then ate little. The smell of food was almost made me nauseous. Better now, have to watch weight now, lol. I did gain 5 back but stable now.
