Whenever there are large fires and large evacuations, besides worrying about pets, and the livestock people own (horses, goats, sheep, chickens, llamas) I feel sad for the wildlife. We have a fair amount of deer, foxes, opposums etc in our area, and muchos coyotes.

A few days ago they showed the grape harbors ,in napa valley the grapes are drying out on the vines because of the heat. I always wanted to see napa valley ,but between fires, earthquakes and all else would not live in California.

I really wish you wouldn't always include a negative comment about California in your posts. Especially at times like this.

From what has been reported, the large animals, especially horses, have all been moved to safe areas built for them in cases like this.
Local shelters last night included dogs and other pets.

Parts of Santa Rosa and Sebastopol are now under mandatory evacuation.
@Noel7, I haven’t been outside yet today, but my local area FB neighborhood group has been reporting all morning that they can smell smoke. The local FD has investigated, said we have no fires (though of course that could change any time, anywhere in CA) and that we’re smelling/seeing smoke from Napa and Sonoma - almost 150 miles away!
People have posted photos of what the sky and air look like in SF this morning, and that air quality is really bad. Stay inside with windows closed!
We are inside, windows closed. I opened the curtains a bit in the front room to see the sky, which looks overcast but is not, it's the crud is in the air.
I had gone to bed last night, woke up around midnight with the heavy smell of wood smoke. We sat up in the front room for hours .
I was getting emergency alerts not to go out. Shut windows. We live with open windows, usually.
I hope it doesn't get bad in your area.

@goldensrbest, the grape harvest is largely over, it happened late August/September.
As has been said before, feelable earthquakes are not only not every day, they’re not even every week, every month or every year. Tornadoes and hurricanes happen with far more regularity.
Fires don’t generally directly affect those living in large cities; that they do is rare. They are, however, a yearly occurrence - like the natural disasters that occur in other states.
It is a rare earthquake that severely damages homes and businesses, whereas if a hurricane, tornado or flood hits (far, far more often than an earthquake) property is usually toast.
I would never want to live in FL, LA, anywhere near the Gulf or anywhere that tornadoes or hurricanes hit, because these things, or floods, happen pretty much every year, with the good possibiity they will happen multiple times in a year.
CA wildfires are unlikely to burn down my house but the possibility exists (though we’ve been here just shy of 40 years) - as it does in several states such as AZ, OR and WA. In the almost 40 years we’ve lived here, one earthquake caused a medium crack in a decorative brick wall in our yard - that’s the sum total of our earthquake damage. Big whoop. We do not live in fear of what could/might happen - it’s pointless.
Just curious - what is “all else”? Although you don’t live in CA, almost every time there is a thread of interest to CA residents, you post to say you wouldn’t want to live there, and that’s pretty much the total of your contribution. You clearly have an anti-CA thing going on. Whatever....

@Noel7 I don’t think it could get as bad as SF, you are so much closer. I’m heading north in a few minutes, we’ll see if it’s worse in Gilroy or Morgan Hill, outside San Jose.
Everyone is nervous, remembering last year’s huge fires here, and jumpy. I have hear sirens twice just since I’ve been on the forums this morning.
