Put women in charge, we find out everything.

Very sad day for NYC but they are strong and endure.
I know of a few people who have come to the US in a Refugee program. They are not allowed to collect Welfare or benefits for a long period of time. Must maintain a job and pay back a certain amount of money that it cost to bring them here, provide shelter/food as a start up. It was a certain $$$ amount actually deducted from their paychecks to be paid back.
You do not automatically qualify for gov't services once you enter this country. Just like when you move from state-to-state you have a certain period of time. I work in the mental health field for over 30-years and things are not as many believe.
These programs have been in place for many years without issue.
This person has been here over seven-years lived in Ohio, Florida and NYC. He was on the watch list. But what is done on the watch list? How do they watch you?
This is the day we live in..be it domestic or foreign..anybody who commits any type of crime to me in my book is a terrorist. They bring terror upon people.
We need to remember Ellis Island....I am all for vetting but if you prove to be a worthy individual and radicalized once here as you are disillusioned, upset or even brainwashed...then what? Look at the Vegas situation...

@Snoopp wrote:Young police officer on scene really stopped this attack. Looks like the suspect will be able to be interrogated.
Yes he certainly did!
His name is NYPD Officer Ryan Nash, and he hails from Long Island! He is indeed a hero although he refuses to take any praise, saying he was just doing his job.
G-d bless him and the NYPD police!

Complete safety is an illusion.

I am also a born and raised New Yorker, and although I don't live there currently, it has nothing to do with fear of terrorism.
I will always love New York City and commend the NYPD for their competence and vigilence, and kudos to the young officer who stopped the terrorist from hurting more people.

I don't know how the guy got to the Home Depot.
Don't know if he stole or rented the truck.
The bad guys can steal a vehicle from anywhere.
We'll just have to wait and see.
But I have faith that NYC and the local FBI office including Homeland Security has been doing all they can since 9/11.
CBS news reported he showed his license and rented the truck. They found his car in the parking lot. He is an Uber driver.
I have always been leery of Uber drivers . . . admittedly probably not fair of me.
As to Paterson, NJ, when I lived in North Jersey, I avoided that city even way back when. I was very skittish about having to go there to collect my unemployment check when I was pregnant and no longer permitted to work. (A woman was not allowed to work beyond six months of pregnancy at most businesses in the 1960s.)
Paterson isn't high on a list of places to visit. As for Uber, there are fake Uber drivers operating out of Liberty airport. I don't see Uber doing anything to prevent this or prosecute offenders.

I only get in Ubers I have called for, when you arrange for a car they give you info on the car and the drivers name and number.

I use Uber and Lyft and will continue to do so. I never think I'm in a car with a terrorist. Yes it's out in the suburbs but that's irrelevant, terrorism and any other crime can happen anywhere.
I've met so many nice drivers, most of them men. Am I aware that I'm taking a risk? Of course. But life involves taking risks every day, unless you just want to lock yourself in your house. I've been hassled more by men while out walking in a state park or down the street than I have in Ubers. I've been in more fear in other situations other than Ubers.
I won't live in fear of terrorists, my life is difficult and unhappy enough.

Hopefully this nonsense of 'diversification visas' will come to an end. They make absolutely no sense in todays world.
That program has been in place since the 90's. I agree to a point, but if no record is found, then what?
Uzbekistan has had an uptick in radicalization so it makes sense to rethink entry to the US from that country.
First responders did a great job.
Lots of radicalization in France and England. Should we also rethink entry to the US from those countries too?
