Got to Stop & Shop by 6:00 am to shop with the rest of the oldies. Wore a mask with a coffee filter inside (cut it to fit) and gloves. Not very many others in there. Pretty well stocked except for toilet paper They had zilch. I could barely breathe and my glasses kept fogging up.

The arrows on the floor. Why not put signs at eye level instead of on the stupid floor where you aren't looking and anyway you're pushing a cart in front of you that covers them as you're turning the corner. Had to back up (beep beep) more than once.

I used one of the do it yourself lanes and was so exceedingly anxious to get out of there and to the outside where I could rip that coffee filtered face mask off that I forgot to pay! Halfway to the car is when it hit me. Back in I went. Of course the lane number light thing was flashing away and the helper person saw me and said "I went outside looking for you". I guess she was going thru the Out Door as I was making my way back through the In door. Got that squared away.

Came home, wiped everything down (except how do you wipe down an onion) and washed my hands for 30 seconds.

Up till this morning only ventured to a small neighborhood grocery store but needed quite a bit of stuff this time. Hope it was the last time I have to hit the big one for awhile.

@shaggygirl -

It does sound harrowing.

I think a lot of us feel the same way about going to the grocery store!

I laughed to myself, @shaggygirl , when I read about your experience.  I can relate to the not being able to breathe and the glasses fogging.  I wear readers and had to keep lowering them because I can't see distance with them on.  I had on gloves,but I know that by touching my glasses I was canceling my protection.  I did pay before leaving lol, but my experience was tense.  I had two carts full and I can tell you, it better be enough to get us by for awhile.  I don't plan on going back anytime soon.  I had my DH back our pick up into the garage and I methodically unpacked everything and wiped it down, put it away.

It was not a fun experience and I usually like grocery shopping.  Woman FrustratedWoman Mad

People might check around.  One of our chains is now delivering for free to people over 60 or at risk.  All but one chain here offers online ordering and people drive up to have them loaded in the trunk. No contact.

There are also some cities around me where the police department is also delivering free of charge for city residents over a certain age.

@shaggygirl   I just saw some tips online yesterday for anyone that wears mask and their glasses fog up!  I wear my sunglasses but they dont seem to fog up.

The tips were to wash your glasses with soapy, shake, let air dry, then wipe lightly with a tissue.

The other one is to put a folded tissue inside the top of the mask, folded into thick rectangle and have it lay atop bridge of nose.

Hope one of these works for you! Smiley Happy
