As I said, I told them at the service desk before I left the store.  All she did was stare at me with her mouth open.  I described the man to her and she stared harder.  So I left.  And I told them today to check the tape, then they could trace it to the check out lane and if the guy paid with a credit card or used a loyalty card, if they have them, they would know who he was.  They claimed they did not know how to do that.  And guess what, I am handicapped too. EXERCISE is important, and shopping carts are very good at supporting most frames and disabilities.  I understand that some people may need the wheelchair cart, but in my experience that has not been the case as they check out and then scurry unaided to their cars.

@comedy clubber   Are you kidding me???  Seriously?  "Most disabilites"?  I'd laugh if I wasn't appalled at this statement.

You do realize some people cannot walk at all. Are you aware of every disability on this planet?

If you can get by with a regular shopping cart, great.  Many cannot.

Nor do I believe this man "zoomed" into you.

For heaven's sake-what do you want?  Security cameras, getting his name if he paid by credit, etc. etc. etc.   Lawsuit against him?

It happened and now it's over.  Get your bruise tended to and let it be.

At least you can still walk even if it means holding onto a cart.

He may not have behaved appropriately but you are still in better shape than he.  Be thankful.

I don't know what Meijer can do. No police report was filed, nor Dr was visited to care for your injury

I agree you have a right to complain to the management after all you were injured in their store with their equipment.

@mimomof4   You just did generalize.

The carts do not "zoom" either.

People with regular carts also block aisles without saying "sorry".

Kids with mini-carts have been known to run through aisles bumping into people, too.

Seems people who need motorized carts should be banished to a store where you do not have to deal with them.  *eyeroll*

Carts can only go 2 miles an hr

snip

Such thefts are rare and difficult to sustain as the carts are obviously grocery store carts, which are designed with a maximum speed of two miles per hour. Most power-operated mobility devices, such as powerchairs and scooters, have an average maximum speed of 5 miles per hour, though many are faster.

I was injured in a store, needing an urgent care visit & stitches.

all I wanted was for them to pay my medical bills

They gave me $1000

2.5x my medical bill

they didn't want to deal with my insurance.

i'm from grand rapids, mi, where meijer store were started. they are a great grocery store with so many additional dept., you really don't have to shop anywhere else or make many small stops to find what you need.

meijer's is a generous giver of time and money. my husband's service club helps blind and less fortunate kids shop there and they have refreshments and wrapping free. they do this with several other clubs, too.

you sound like you have a sour dispositon and wouldn't have been happy shopping anywhere.

One Meijer store I visited had some kid-maybe 10 years of age) riding a two wheeler through the store. Obviously a safety hazard and legal issue for the store. NO ONE said anything to her or her parents.

I talked to the manager the next day and she was shocked that no one said anything. Not directly to the customer,but should have called management.

I keep on dancin'

@mimomof4  I am one of those people riding in the carts.

No matter how many times I say excuse me, people just stand there with their faces buried in their phones, carts in middle of aisle.  And since I am using a big, bulky cart, there is no way to get around them other than backing up and going the opposite way, which is also impossible if anyone is behind you.

It has become such a problem that I have started going to the store at 3 am to get my groceries.

Sorry you've had to deal with rude people too, but try using a motorized cart and your frustration level will go up tenfold, I promise you.

@Kachina624   Same.

People on foot "zoom" around me.
