How awful for the couple and I am glad they are on the mend.

I think any help given to them at this time would be wonderful and greatly appreciated.

People that would or will not eat food prepared by others have never been hungry enough and they are very lucky.

@Imaoldhippie So rather than speak up and loudly say no thank you it would be okay to throw it away once they left?

No, of course not. You just don't sign up for it and run the risk of falling while trying to prepare your food,, or not being able to access food at all. You could also recover in a nursing home. If you have close friends and relatives willing to be responsible for your care, or the money to pay for care in your home, consider yourself blessed. Not everyone is so lucky.

I ended up committing to two days.  The first one will be Monday.  I'm bringing bacon cheeseburgers, all the usual add-ons, broccoli salad, and a store bought dessert.

I'm supposed to provide food for two adults and two kids.

Question -

Do you think six burgers is enough?

If you won’t eat a meal from a neighbor or friend you shouldn’t eat at restaurants. I’ve always said if you went into the kitchen of most restaurants you wouldn’t eat there. Lol people are picky and entitled.

Umm, exactly how is this particular mom of two supposed to feed herself and her children when she can't even walk?. It'll be months before that happens.  She already lost her husband a couple of years ago in a freak accident, and now she has another tragedy to live through.

So far all the volunteers have honored their commitments.  It's my privilege to be able to help.

The Meal Train has been around for years. All of my daughters were lucky enough to have meals delivered for a week or two after they had my grandbabies and I also got meals delivered after I came home from a long hospital stay. Most of their friends have kids and work full-time, so they don't have lots of time to cook meals for others. so

some of the meals were delivered by a restaurant, some were made by friends, and some were gift cards or vouchers for meals from specific restaurants that friends knew were favorites. I think it is a great idea. We really appreciated having the meals delivered and we knew what was coming and when. Nice to have it organized so you don't get lasgana or a meatloaf threa days in a row.

I've been the grateful recipient of meal trains several times. In 2013 when my son was killed, my office took care of meals for two weeks. In the past five years I had some major surgeries and was provided meals by my church community group. Never occurred to me to decline for any reason. These provisions were blessings. The friends who made the meals or ordered food for us were happy to have a service opportunity. That's how I feel too, when I deliver food to someone.

What a wonderful & helpful thing to do!!  I love how a community will come together to help those in need.
