Oh, he was one of our favorites, back in the day.  Helen Reddy was good too.

Loved Mac Davis -- so sorry we've lost another great one!  Saw his show in Vegas a couple decades ago.  Swoon-worthy.

 

(Mac Davis wrote the song "Watching Scotty Grow" about his own son.  Bobby Goldsboro recorded it.)

Helen Reddy and Mac Davis both passed the same day, but Helen has gotten much more coverage then Mac Davis, I don't believe she was more of a star than Mac. It reminds me Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett both died the same day, Farrah was barely a blip on the radar, it was all about Michael. I remember a joke, a celebrity didn't want to have the bad fortune of dying the same day as another celebrity or some big event because they wanted all the focus to be on them.
