A sad "aww" slipped from my mouth after I read the header.  He made pleasant, easy-to-listen-to music.

May he rest in peace.

 @piperbay  "Watching Scotty Grow" was written by Mac Davis. Bobby Goldsboro had a big hit with it . Mac Davis  sang it too.

Such sad news.

I loved Mac Davis and had a crush on him back in the day.  Looked forward to and enjoyed his TV show.

Interesting story I once read he told about the circumstances surrounding his writing "Hard to be Humble."  He was staying at a luxious suite in a Vegs hotel while performing there (I think it was Caersar's Palace).  He looked around as he enjoyed his delicious room service meal and thought to himself, "It's hard to be humble."

Remember his wife at the time left him for Glen Campbell.  I couldn't believe it.

He wrote many great songs for others as well as himself.

RIP Mac Davis.

Mac had a song called, "Whoever Finds This, I Love You."  I don't think it was a hit; it was on an album.  It's a beautiful song.  Worth checking out on Youtube if you don't know it or to give it another listen, if you do.

@Jordan2

That is what happens as we age. The older I get the more good friends I lose. Many in the music I love have died. When I was younger I saw them as "living forever".

I wasn't a real big fan of either mentioned here but I did enjoy their music. May they Rest in Peace!

@piperbay   Yes the popular version but it was written by Mac Davis.   I don't know if he ever recorded his own version, though.
