I"m afraid if I have an emergency whether health related or home invasion, suspicious folks at the door, the cell would be dead then your sol.

You don't have time to find the phone, turn on the phone, wait for it to fire up to where U can use it then if you have to call 911 they can't find you as fast as they can on a landline.

I want 911 NOW may be a matter of life and death. Husband works at a place where he has to take calls to fill orders and he can't understand half the people who call in because the interference is horrible, calls are dropped, etc.

Keeping my landline till the powers that be , one day will decree we can't have what we want.

I agree with everything you have listed.

I love the convenience of a cell phone, especially a smart phone, but I can't stand to have it on my person at all times. I find it awkward to have it in my hand or pocket or remember to pick it up when I go from room to room, when at home all day. They just aren't comfortable to me, to handle, or to talk on.

And do you notice, many people I talk to who are on a cell, are not getting the mic in the right place and what they are saying is distant, muddled, faint etc. It drives me nuts.

I literally get exhausted trying to hear and understand people calling me on their cell at times (not everyone, and not every conversation, and it isn't the service, it's the phone/person) but I don't have that problem with people calling me on a land line phone.

We don't have the traditional copper line anymore.  We have our phone through Comcast.  I'd never get rid of it.  It's not as foolproof as the old copper line phones, but we don't get very strong cell service at home.  And, I like the backup to a cell phone.

Also, it's cheaper to do the 3 way bundle deal with Comcast.  Would cost more without the phone, and we are given great deals every two years because we have the 3-way bundle.  We were paying a lot more, when we had "traditional" phone service from the phone company, and internet and TV through Comcast.

husband left his for emergeny only phone in his sweater pocket thank God I found it before it got washed in washing machine.

Probably an age thing. I have unlimited calling on my landline/cordless units. Sisters don't. I call them back when they give me the signal it's them on their tracfones they have deletion of precious minutes either if you make or receive calls. One sister kept her landline and we can talk for hrs with no cost to her since I have unlimited within in the 50 states.

The other sister hollers at me "talk fast costing me money here" I email her LOL

I have NOMOROBO on our phone so it cuts all solicitation calls.  We have Caller ID that shows the number on our tv, if it's on, so if we are home and the phone rings, we can see who it is.

No one calls our home phone that knows us.  99% of the people who call are solicitation calls so the call is cut off.  If I am home all weekend long, most of the time the home phone never rings.

Anyone important who wants to get ahold of us has our cell numbers and thats what they call.  I don't carry my phone with me from room to room, upstairs and in the basement nor do I have it on me at all times.  I'm not tied to my phone that way.  If someone calls and I can't get it, I return the call, just like if my home phone rang and I couldn't get to it.  I have voicemail on my cell so if they need to leave a message, they do.

It's really not at all difficult to charge a cell phone.  It's a matter of plugging it in.  LOL  My phone goes all day on the charge.  I plug it in when I go to bed at night.  Many of the new phones don't have replaceable batteries.  If the battery goes, you get a new phone.  However, the batteries last for years.   My phone also updates automatically.

We still have a landline and every month I pay the bill and wonder why. This month it's $67 for what?! We hardly use the thing. We both have cell phones. Just old school I guess.  We have AT&T landline and Xfinity TV and internet.

$67 is a bargain.  We have RCN for internet and cable and  AT&T for a true landline that needs a jack.  We have all the calling features plus unlimited long distance and it's $90.  Although we both have cell phones the piece of mind with a LL is worth it to me.  Don't have to worry about power outages, battery dying, poor reception with cells.  As long as it is offered whatever the cost, I'm keeping my LL.

Literally the only reason we have it is because it's bundled with our internet.  If I cancel the landline, our internet will increase dramatically.  I'm so sorry I bundled those services.

I never use it.  I never pick up the few calls that come through on it.  I only have one cordless phone actually plugged in now.  I don't even know the phone number to that line.  I'd have to look it up.

All   communication is done through our cells...

I have a landline and DSL internet that costs about $75 a month.  Just internet is not any cheaper.  We don't have FIOS in this area.

I like having the security of a landline.   Recently, we got notice of a suspect loose in our general area by landline.  That would not be possible with the cell phone.

Having caller ID is an extra cost but I think it is worth it!
