You could get very hurt taking down a 6' 4" bad guy.  if height is an issue..they should have spelled it out in the initial presentation.

@fthunt  They really should've spelled it out for me! The irony is, when I was a wrestler in high school, I was one of the only girls and I won matches against guys in practice who were anywhere from 5'8" to above 6' - I'm small and mighty Smiley Very Happy.  I told the investigator that I'm surprisingly strong for my height.

@SportyShorty07

How funny! Growing up I worked with my dad lifting sacks of seed, feed and bales of hay, wrestling calves, feeding animals etc.

I am not much taller than you and when we had wrestling in phys ed. a big old tall gal never once beat me.  Those little girls couldn't go up against a real cowgirl!  Woman LOL

We just might see her on QVC or HSN.

@Sage04  Oh that'd be a  dream come true! I love QVC, I watch it everyday.  Another thing is, I majored in product design and have an invention that I prototyped and I want to patent and sell- if I save up enough money and find a manufacturer. Someday I can sell it on QVC if that dream comes true! Either that or my popcorn on QVC Smiley Happy

@SportyShorty07 Sorry to hear that, you sound like an excellent candidate. I don't understand why they can't tell you why you didn't get into the academy. Are there any kind of restrictions or requirements that could prevent someone from being accepted? Age, height, weight, etc? Doesn't make sense for them not to disclose Woman Frustrated

@Estellee  Thank you so much Smiley Happy! I don't know why they can't tell me why I didn't get into the academy and why I can't appeal it.  I just feel bad about all of the reference letters people had to take time out of their days to write- I play bingo every month with a group of lovely seniors and each and every one of them believed in me so much that they hand wrote reference letters.  I'm grateful for the time that everyone took in advocating for me, I really am.  Maybe I'll never know the answers as to why I wasn't selected- and I'll have to make my own closure on this.  I just wish that I could know why.  It feels like a bad break up! Smiley Frustrated

@SportyShorty07 I want to add a little levity here knowing you are as much of a fan of the Bachelor/Bachelorette shows as I am. Can you imagine getting a job with the franchise and securing and guarding the mansion and travelling with the contestants everywhere. Sounds like a dream job!

@Estellee  Oooh that would be so amazing!! Now that'd be another dream come true for sure Smiley Happy. I'm really looking forward to Jen's season as The Bachelorette and I can't wait for the next season of The Golden Bachelorette Smiley Happy

@elated  Thank you very much for your support!  The interesting thing is, they weren't aware of my hearing disability since I didn't have to take a physical yet, but you are right- maybe that would've been a factor.  I had speech therapy growing up and my left ear has excellent hearing- I may need hearing aids down the road, but have done well with my hearing so far in terms of compensating for the partial deafness. I really admired my speech therapist- maybe that's a career that I could look into? You are right- I can find causes I care about and pursue them and find ways to help my community.  I volunteer and that's fun, but maybe I can find a way to help more people.

I am so sorry you didn't get your dream job.  My husband was a police officer for 35 years and a deputy sheriff for around 20 years.  He worked nigh positions at the same time and retired with benefits from both places.

Our oldest son is also a police officer and has held that position for over 20 years.  He had a very difficult time getting his position initally, but finally he got there.

I realize that you are a strong female and can probably do the job most of the time, but I also know that criminals and just plain ol drunks could kick your butt or hurt you in a quick second.

My Husband and son both have gotten into altercations and both have required sutures and have sustained a broken bone or two along with many bruises.

My husband has had to carry people over his shoulders to safety and pull people out of a burning car.

It is a difficult job no matter what, but particularly difficult for anyone with a small stature or anyone with a slight build.

There are many other jobs in this field that you might be more suited for.  Detective work, working with sexual assault victims
and children is worthwhile and part of law enforcement.

Perhaps you can find something in that area of expertise to focus on.  Please don't waste your talents and dreams.

There is a position for you.

I agree.  This could be a strong reason.  However, why make her go through all of the paces?  Seems so unnecessary and heartless.

I understand about being short.  I'm only 5'1" so I get it and it can be frustrating at times.

Or another possibility is that there were so many applying who were just as qualified or they were looking for certain demographics?

@SportyShorty07 I'm sorry this happened to you.  I can only imagine the frustration.  Good luck and best wishes going forward.

@SaveTheTurtles  Thank you so much! There's something else out there for me even if I don't know it now- you are so right.  I think its so easy to get defeated by this and see myself as someone who failed, but I have to realize that I gave it my best shot and there are many others who probably got rejected from the selection process too- I'm not the only one hurting and we will all find careers. Smiley Happy

@Sooner  Oh that is so great- you're my kind of cow girl! How fun Smiley Very HappyHeart!!  I remember my first day of wrestling practice in high school,  I pinned a guy who was 9 inches taller than me in a wrestling match- he fought for 5 minutes and couldn't get out from underneath me and then he cried and didn't show up to practice for weeks! I love combat sports- wrestling, boxing- anything to get a good sweat and feel empowered Heart

@Estellee  The inside scoop would be fascinating Smiley Very Happy! Front row seats to the catfights and hearing the juicy gossip from the girls on The Bachelor! Finding out who is there for "the wrong reasons" and directly witnessing "the most dramatic season finale ever!" Smiley Very Happy
