@Biftu .............Scammers have been hitting Amazon big time lately. However, Amazon DID send out emails about the increase in Prime Membership. I dont know if they sent them out to all customers or not. But be very careful of emails "from" Amazon.
You could have saved yourself a lot of aggravation by checking your membership status from your Amazon home page. Also, they have live chat customer service which is excellent.
Hopes this helps to ease your frustration.
Hoping you get it all worked out for your peace of mind.
@Imaoldhippie I have only ordered a few times from Amazon so I never thought of checking my status or how to do that -- now I know. It appears the matter has been cleared up.

There was no phone number to call in the email. I did look up the number and frustrating as it was to get any answers, it appears to be straightened out now.

I love Amazon and have been a long-time Prime member. I used to keep a list of items I needed/wanted, and after a time I would go to my Target store and purchase what I could there. Then I would lug all those bags home and go through the task of putting everything away. Now, I order almost daily, even if it's just a single item and get my order within a day or two. And I get tracking notifications from them so I can see on their map how soon my item will be delivered. Occasionally, some items take longer than a day or two, but always get in a reasonable time. I've rarely had an issue with them that warraned a call.
As an aside (to illustrate Amazon's service): A friend recently ordered a baby gift to be delivered to the home of the baby. My friend was checking status on Amazon and it showed the delivery had been made, along with a photo of where the package was left. The recipient never received the item. Amazon readily replaced the item. The proof of delivery for that item showed the same location as the original order. Looks like the original order was the victim of a porch pirate.

I got the Price Increase notice on Prime, it still is a value for me because I order so much OTC drugs, etc. I've only had one problem with Amazon in all these years and I possibly may have clicked on a bad website. So I still recommend them. Don't all anyone unless the bad thing you are worried about shows up somewhere else, like on your credit card statement. This goes for anyone you deal with online.

Amazon is always offering a free trial and if you dont cancel then it gets automatically billed to your account if you have a credit card on file, so that's why it's recommended not to store a credit card and just re-enter the number if you make a purchase........
I had to do an extensive search on their website to find a secret number to get a hold of a live person.....My problem was Amazon's delivery person threw my package at my front door and broke the merchandise, they re-delivered a replacement and told me to throw the broken item away since it was broken glass and dangerous to return....the next thing I know is I get an email saying if I didnt return the damaged item I would be billed for it....so I had to call them again and explain the situation and advise I threw the broken glass away, she sent an email confirmation the broken item need not be returned and I wouldnt be billed....🙄

After looking everywhere I finally found a number to call to insure they did not have me as a Prime member. The first rep I got actually disconnected me and the noise in the background was deafening. They wanted so much information just to check my account. I tried again after being disconnected and went through the same spiel. This guy said I was a Prime member since December but had no information to show when I signed up or what credit card would be credited or when. Although as of yet I have seen no charge to my account he said he would credit my account. He said he would send me an email confirming our call. What I got was a questionnaire about the service I received, nothing about the context of the call. I'm frustrated with this whole experience and know why I have only bought the few items from Amazon I could not fine elsewhere. Just had to let out my frustration. Never buying from them again.
Sounds like a scam. Amazon CS is very good and polite. I got almost the same thing. If you don't have prime, nothing to do.
These people just want info from you. Amazon doesn't do this.
I cancelled my credit card, got a new one with a new number and also went online to Amazon and told them what happen.
Never call a number from an email. These scammers are getting real good.

Or it couldve been an Amazon employee....they have been caught on occasion of taking a photo confirming delivery and have come back later and stole the package but got caught on a security camera---same person that delivered was the thief

It was not a scam, it was a legit email. Seems somehow I was enrolled in Prime. The second person I got (after the first one disconnected me) was helpful and went ahead and credited my account. It will remain a mystery as to how this happened but ordering a gift in December I may have done something to trigger this. I've only ordered from them a few times so maybe I hit something I shouldn't have. There was no number to call in the email, I found it on my own. Anyway, it is straightened out now, Prime is cancelled and I should see a credit to my account.

Next time, simply log on to your Amazon account, and click the tab for accounts and lists, then click on Account. You will be able to view everything that you need and make any changes that you feel are necessary.

Done and done. It was not a scam. I was somehow mysteriously enrolled in Prime. It's been cancelled and my credit card will be credited.
