How did you become a Prime member if you never signed up for it? That's the part I don't get.

@Biftu@pupwhipped,

it is very easy to accidently become a member of prime. They make it so you have to be very careful at checkout to UNclick on prime shipping before  to your surprise you are enrolled in prime membership which you never meant to be.

It happened to me twice until I learned to be very observant at which things to click off! As I recall you are almost checked into prime and have to uncheck that mode of shipping also enrolling you in prime.

Amazon definitely not my favorite either for all the games they play, including raising prices if they see more are interested or not having free shipping when an outside vendor which is often not able to see til check out and not cheaper than a lot of places people are meant to think they are, changing products we see that were there before, and on and on.

So, @Biftu, you are not alone in experiencing this and even with prime, for outside vendors, they are not always included in free shipping even if you have paid that annual prime fee!

@pupwhipped  That's what I don't get either!  During my call I asked them to provide proof I had signed up for Prime but was not able to get an answer.  Guess it will remain a mystery how that happened.

@on the bay  Thanks for that.  Maybe that is what happened because I ordered a Christmas gift during that time period.  Since I've only ordered from them a few times, I guess I wasn't savy enough negotiating their site.  Glad I'm not alone.

@Biftu .............Scammers have been hitting Amazon big time lately.   However, Amazon DID send out emails about the increase in Prime Membership.  I dont know if they sent them out to all customers or not.   But be very careful of emails "from" Amazon.

You could have saved yourself a lot of aggravation by checking your membership status from your Amazon home page.  Also, they have live chat customer service which is excellent.

Hopes this helps to ease your frustration.

Hoping you get it all worked out for your peace of mind.

I get scam emails from "amazon" all the time. Never call the number in those emails. With any email, I always look up the number on the real website and call it.

i have only ordered items from Amazon a few times.  I got an email today alerting me of the new Prime rates going up.  I have never signed up for Prime.  After looking everywhere I finally found a number to call to insure they did not have me as a Prime member.  The first rep I got actually disconnected me and the noise in the background was deafening.  They wanted so much information just to check my account.  I tried again after being disconnected and went through the same spiel.  This guy said I was a Prime member since December but had no information to show when I signed up or what credit card would be credited or when.  Although as of yet I have seen no charge to my account he said he would credit my account.  He said he would send me an email confirming our call.  What I got was a questionnaire about the service I received, nothing about the context of the call.  I'm frustrated with this whole experience and know why I have only bought the few items from Amazon I could not fine elsewhere.  Just had to let out my frustration. Never buying from them again.

@Biftu  hope you didn't give out information that would come back to bite you. Not seeing a charge on your statement would have made me think it was a mistake.

Our Prime was renewed in December as usual and we have not received a notice about the increase as yet althought  we know about it.

We love Amazon and have been Prime Members since the begining and will continue.

Please keep checking your statement for a Credit. Hope it's legit!!

I also got a notification of a Prime increase. I'm sure it was legal. I will let them charge me , as I always do.I love being a Prime member, I buy a lot from Amazon.

I became a Prime member when a man at Amazon, said on an order, "Why are you not a Prime member?" you have spent over $200.00 on shipping so far. I said , what is that? he said I'm making you a Prime  member. That's how I became one, some nice guy ,said "enough". They take the membership out once a year, but let me know. It's been 5 years now.
