The closet town with grocery stores is 10/11 miles away. There is a Weis Market and a Walmart. There were 2 smaller independent markets but they closed awhile ago.
I really dislike Walmart and can count on 1 hand the times I have been in there as a last resort. It's been there close to 11 yrs.
That leaves Weis. I like the store and used to go often. However, in 2017 during an overnight shift people were stocking shelves (store was closed) a 24 r. old worker shot 3 co-workers and then himself. Another worker escaped and alerted police. I didn't know the victims or the shooter.
I cannot bring myself to go in there. I tried once about 8 months after it happened and in every aisle I wondered if someone died there. I will travel an additional 8 miles to the next closet store.
I find it unsettling. Could you shop there?

I would have no hesitation to shop there because of the murders/suicide.
Do you avoid entering a hospital, nursing home, private home or public venue because someone might have died there or is it only that particular store?
Is your refusal based on specific knowledge of the deaths or some other factor?

Yes, I could shop there.

Yes I could shop there, if everyone felt the way you do they would go out of business and then all you would have would be walmart. I would want to support that store after going through something so tragic.

@Marp I expect very sick people to be in hospitals, very sick people die. Accident victims die in ERs.
The one and only time I went in I looked around and there was no place to go. Front doors were locked and the kid parked his car against the doors where deliveries were made.
Evidently one woman made it to where the front door key was and got out.
It is just creepy to me.

@CrazyKittyLvr2 I go out of my way for several different things that matter to me. I consider it self care in a way.
You do you. We're all different and if you don't mind the extra travel time, why should anyone else?
Besides, you never know you might meet a new friend in a new place that you wouldn't have otherwise come across if you stayed in a routine. It's all good.

I would not have a problem with going in.

I'd shop there with no problem, it's awful that it happened but I wouldn't consider myself part of the tragedy... people who are a part of any tragedy will try their best to move on so if you're looking for advice, try too @CrazyKittyLvr2.

I do think that's a very normal reaction. Especially if it was a store you went to a lot. I would not want to go in either but after a time, months or year or so, I might.
We had several shootings in a popular shopping center here, one in Walmart. When I lived there I would go a lot and even after moving would sometimes go. I avoided it after that for awhile. It is scary and you can't help thinking of it.
edited to add-I just realized it was in 2017. Yes i think that would be a long time for me to still feel afraid to go into the store. I would not mind anymore, but everyone is different and it's your feelings which are yours to have.
