@Nomorebirthdays--Oh sorry, Ezekiel 4:9, it's bread.
Made from sprouted 100% whole grains. It's technically flourless and low glycemic (36?). A complete protein. Organic.
I love it! Most want to toast it, I like it better at room temperature. I leave it out to make it *drier*.lol
Usually found in the frozen aisle, TJ's has it with all the other breads--not frozen.
80 calories, no sugar, 4 gr. protein, 3 gr. fiber, 3% sodium (you can buy low sodium though).
I never like sliced white bread (like Wonder), it just seemed too dough-y. The crust seem *fake*.
This stuff is hearty, to me. Very satisfying.

I eat 1/2 cup of high fiber cereal in the morning and two pieces of Sara Lee 45 calorie bread several times in a week as a sandwich.
I also eat 1/2 of a baked potato once or twice a week.
I can't even remember the last time I ate pasta.
Not saying I don't eat carbs, but I eat very little of them, imo, and I'm not worried about it.

A $5. Loaf of bread, found in the freezer dept..that is full of seeds, sprouts, I think...looks awful to me

Ezekiel bread is named for instructions in the book of Ezekiel that tell how to make the bread.

I can't say that I do at all. But I'm sure that I should. The only thing I don't each much of is bread. The exception being when we occasionally buy fresh Italian bread. I can't have it in the house as I love it so much I can't leave it alone! Other than that --- I love starch. Pasta, potatoes, rice. I know I should cut back but I just find it so wonderful and it does not upset my stomach. Figures!!!

@fourpaws56 wrote:for those of you who gave up sugar, would you mind sharing how you did it? I have tried a few times and failed miserably. I know that days when I eat too many carbs/sugar I don't feel well TIA
Cold Turkey for me. I know without a shadow of a doubt, that If I expose myself to a sugar binge, I will without fail also be exposing myself to leg cramps and a sugar "hangover" as a sequel.
So having nothing to lose except 100 pounds, I stopped spending a few minutes of "sugar joy" for hours of "sugar misery".
Freedom is amazing, and when I lapse, and I occasionally do, I hop right back on the wagon as soon as I pull my head together.
For ME (and that's the only person over which I'm really responsible) NO sugar is better than "just one (taste)".

I've not read this thread, but wanted to give me my thoughts on your question.
For me, I just stopped cold.
In the beginning, I did buy a few boxes of Atkins Advantage bars and cut them up in small pieces. These are VERY low sugar and low net carbs. They have lots of flavors.
During the day, as I felt my will to resist sugar wavering, I would have one or two small pieces of the bar with some hot tea.
Eventually, I was able to get through the day and not eat an entire bar. Now, I rarely even open one.
I was never a big sweet eater, but.....I love a good piece of pastry or candy. But, I realized if I continued to eat them, it would sabotage my health (and weight).
Now, I just have a couple of squares of very dark chocolate as my "treat." Or a small piece of fresh fruit.
I found that by just giving up white carbs and sugar, the cravings DID go away. Both for sweets and white carbs.
That's what worked for me.

What has worked best for me is cutting way back on bread and pasta. When I do eat a piece of bread it is a treat and it is the Ezekiel bread. Pasta is pretty much a once a month treat. I eat eggs, meat, veggies, fruit, a high fiber cereal (14 grams fiber) and an occassional baked potato. I allow myself one sweet treat a week. I prefer grass fed meat and free range chickens.

I would not be a happy camper giving up sugar and carbs.

Unfortunately, I've read similar posts whenever the subject of diet arises. I love my life; and the fuel for my body allows me to be strong, healthy, kind, and compassionate. I so respect SIDS. She has done her homework and changed her life. I respect those who have differing opinions as they feel they are doing what is best for themselves and their loved ones. The book is that medical MDs receive little nutritional training in medical school. The field of medicine and health change as we learn more. A person can "prove" whatever they want with data. Someone's paradigm can always be evidence based. I usually choose not to involve myself in these discussions as I don't think it will influence anyone. I wish everyone much health and the ability to respect differences of opinions. I could write books on the subject, but an open, inquiring, or desperate mind is sometimes needed to facilitate change. Wishing everyone the very best of health. Love ya SIDS, you always give your best....keep smashing those potatoes!
Just something to consider....where does your food come from? How much suffering was involved to put the food on your plate? And are you really gaining health by consuming an animal with a nervous system who experiences pain? This is just the beginning of conscious eating and exploration to perhaps a new healthier way of life. Much love.
@phoenixbrd, where does YOUR food come from? Do you grow it naturally? Is it full of pesticides and antibiotics? If not, then how do you manage that? Suffering I don't understand as it relates to sustenance. If you mean by taking from others to give to others ~ that's a bad thing.
Mankind has been eating MEAT for centuries. Now all of a sudden is harmful or not morally correct to do so? I love Pork chops and eat them from time to time. Should I be concerned that the pig suffered before he went to slaughter?
What right do you have to tell other cultures who eat a variety of foods some of us will never know of that they should not? Is the western way to feed the human body the "right and only way?" What about other cultures different from ours here in the US who avail themselves of all of the living sustenance that they can because if not they would die?
Meanwhile you and others who think like you know there is a shortage of food in the world right......
Yes, some of us are very concerned about animals suffering for humans to consume their flesh which isn't necessary to live a healthy life.
