Have thought about Jane's comment before posting...

Recently, I was watching Jane Treacy on air...she mentioned something about hosting Halloween parties every year and how one year...she invited her child's favorite teacher. She went on to explain how the teacher came dressed as a 'substitute teacher" wearing a Quacker Factory sweater with a sign pinned to the back reading "Kick Me." I usually brush-off comments like that. However, being a substitute teacher myself...I thought was that comment really necessary? I also thought "I am looking to be offended here?" I think more than anything...her tone was condescending. Many of my friends and I sub, because we enjoy it. We are certainly not subbing for the pay...we do not wear Quacker Factory...and certainly don't have signs posted to our backs. I think QVC hosts need realize they are not comedians, but sales people...and you never know who's watching. Being upbeat and light-hearted is one thing, but Jane has a tendency to elevate herself in a very unattractive manner. I will assume she did not mean the comment in a brash way. However, you just never know what potential customers are watching and how something can be perceived....and for QVC...it all comes down to numbers and sales.

Since you are a first time poster perhaps you are unaware that the forums in general and Viewpoints in particular is not the best way to let a host know they offended you. Jane's FB page would enhance the chances she would see your comments.

The answer to your second question is "Yes". goes right along with the post last week by someone who was offended because a couple of hosts keep saying they wish they were tall. She is short and was insulted by their comments. people can always find something to be insulted about if they look, for it.

Having been a substitute teacher, I am not really offended. However, that teacher might do well to remember that the only reason she gets to take off work is because of the dedicated and professional substitute teachers who stand in for her.

I might be more offended if I was the Quacker Factory company. Seems like they were dissing QF clothes.

I worked as a sub also and hate the way we are disrespected. We are like tissues- you need us, need us to be strong and when you're done with us you want us to go away.

I agree with you're looking to be offended. I'm sure she just meant it as a joke. Plus if you watched Jane RT for any length of time then you know she tends to rattle on sometimes.

Perhaps you were "unnecessarily" offended, but I don't think it is anything less than rude for people to always reply that a poster is "looking to be offended".
