I love reading some of the Amazon reviews. They can be hilarious.

Is ""Prime"" worth the fee?

I know! Some of their reviewers are great comedy writers.

It depends. If you buy a lot of things from Amazon, it's free 2 day shipping. You also get free instant streaming on a lot of TV and movies. It depends on what you like to watch and your buying habits. They usually have a 30 day free trial which would be the best way to find out if it's worth it to you. Amazon's customer service is the best.

Amazon's customer service is the best.

You also get free unlimited music streaming (new), and a free e-book to read once a month (with no due date) on their superb Kindle e-reader.

They also have a vast Kindle lending library, and you can share your membership with family members at no additional price.

I've been an extremely satisfied Amazon customer for 9 years, and a Prime member for the last 4. It's saved and enriched my and my cats' lives - especially our health and safety - and that to me is priceless.

When you live without your own vehicle and no access to transportation on a regular basis, it's a true blessing. I'm immeasurably grateful to Amazon for providing this service.

The once-yearly charge equals only $8/month, much more than people use in gas and wear n' tear on their vehicles, and all of the time wasted schlepping around.

And they very often have the lowest prices on a practically-limitless inventory of anything and everything.

Plus, if you need something overnight, it's just $3.99 extra.

The free 30-day trail is exactly that, and a total no-brainer to try out and totally enjoy.

BTW, several of the Amazon original TV series - like the poignant, funny, ground-breaking "Transparent" - are fantastic. 8)

Feline Groovy - I have 'Transparent' on my list to watch, but haven't started yet (so no spoiler, please!). I see that you are enjoying this show, no? I have not seen any reviews yet but fully plan to watch. I'm looking forward to it.

Oh, anyway, as to if Prime is worth it - only you can answer that. It's worth it to me so I have no problem allowing it to renew every year. Mine doesn't renew until next January, so I'm still on the old price. I recently was given an extra month for some situation I had, which was very nice of them. Smiley Happy

It's amazing when I think of what they sold 10 years ago, when I first got there, compared to what they sell now - which is pretty much EVERYTHING. I practically get everything there that I don't get at the grocery store.

It's not a Prime thing, but I get numerous items over several categories on Auto Delivery and save 15% on each item. The amount I pay for dog food alone, compared to when I bought it at PetSmart, saves me $20 a month. That's just one thing.

Hi Chic!

Yep, I watched the pilot which debuted this past August, and agreed with the other reviewers that this was extra special. It set up the series, plus I know two people that are M to F trans and some of what they've experienced.

There's extra poignancy, though, as it's the dad of a divorced pair that is trans (clever double meaning on the show's name!), and had to deny her authentic self all her life. Plus, the three adult kids have their own stuff going on, and the family dynamics are really unique.

And Jeffrey Tambor (a sweet man, BTW) is doing the best dramatic work of his career, at least IMHO.

No spoilers above. Smiley Wink

Just like Hulu and Netflix thankfully offers, this show is another great alternative to the usual TV stuff, especially since most of that is totally non-original.

Oh, and "Transparent" has just broken Amazon's original series record, including the amount of binge-watching in one day. 8)
