If your hair is gray do you dye it a color?

Well I left my hair go and did not dye it for almost 4 months. I wanted to see just how gray I am. lol. I am a red head and I used to brag that red heads don't go gray early. Wrong. I started getting light grays in my late 30s and from then on I colored my hair red. Its not my exact natural red but it's nice when I dye them.

When I left them go and did not dye them, I was getting compliments at first on my natural red with the grays in. But now its been long that I haven't dyed them and they look bad (to me anyway).

So anyway, today I got my hair cut very short for Summer. I see now that I have gray on the top and the back bottom half is white! Gasp! (There is still some of my natural red through out though too)

I will be dying my hair tomorrow morning! lol.

Oh my husband on the other hand has salt and pepper hair (more salt than pepper now) and oh he looks so handsome. Why is it most men look good w gray but not most women?

Anyway hes younger than me to begin with and I have become self conscious of that as we age, so I'm going to color it so I don't look way older. My husband doesnt care if Im gray or not gray but yep I am now vain in my older age. lol.

MOST natural redheads go grey very young and when they do - it is white, not grey. Often redheads grey in streaks of color too. I had a white streak along the rt. front of my hair by the time I was 25. I always blamed it on the stress of being a nurse. By the time I was 34 my hair was all white in the front and more white than color in the back.

There is no right or wrong. Do whatever makes you happy. Stopped color process five years ago never regret my choice. Receive compliments regardless I'm the only one who's opinion counts. When I decided told myself could always color. Interestingly! Mine brightens my face high and low silver streaks bring out my green eyes. To anyone who might be interested YouTube videos on going natural abundant. Cindy Joseph, Her story walking around NYC Photographer requested a picture, rest as the saying goes is history.

@Shorty2U  We had quite a lengthy thread just a couple days ago on going gray.  You might want to look it up and read it.  Many of us are doing it and loving the results.

I am thankful for L'Oreal Creme Excellence #6. My hair is naturally dark brown and now it still is!

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

As I said on the other thread I just finished my transition to gray/white hair. I'm still getting used to the new me but I wouldn't go back. It is so freeing!  I have a short pixie cut and I recently saw on YouTube several different ways to style pixies. It's been fun trying different styles.

I colored my hair for many years to hide the gray.  I stopped about 5 years ago and love it.  My gray is white so it's a great color.   It's so much easier than coloring every month.

@gidgetgh   Me too on the dark brown and it still is!  Only difference for me is I use Nutriese #30 Dark Brown.

I would let it go, but at 66, while I definitely have some gray, I still have dark roots so I continue to color it.

My mother finally let it go at 88 and had beautiful white hair.  I guess I'll just wait and see what happens.
