With summer coming on I recently thought about the ice cream delivery man who used to come to our neighborhood when I was a child. When I was very small we had a driver who called his service " Ice Cream Joe". He sold mostly popsicles, fudgesicles and various ice cream on a stick. Then when I got older we had a larger van that came and he sold soft ice cream. The company was called "Mr Softee"..imagine the teasing that the poor drivers took on that one... anyway those memories are so etched in my mind.
I remember hearing the song that they played and seeing the truck come down the street and then running into the house to ask Mom for a quarter to buy a ice cream cone.
I grew up in Western PA. Anyone here from PA and have any memory of Mr. Softee?
What ice cream companies used to come to your neighborhood when you were a child?
Do you have any special memories that you would like to share?
