actually it's being reported he wants to be at Kennebunkport ME this summer. so it seems the president has some future plans.

It is common.  He has health issues but even when a person loses a long time spouse that they are extremely bonded to;  the other spouse will often pass away a short time later.  They are two halves of a whole.  Both sets of my grandparents were like that.  After their beloved wives passed, the men who were not ill at all, declined physically and were gone within a few months.

My dad passed away 7 months to the day after my mom.

There were some health issues but I think the main reason was a broken heart.

Quite frankly I expected him to go before her. He has had multiple lung infections and other illnesses that have hospitalized him several times in the past few years. He has looked frail for quite some time. I am sure that the whole thing with Barbara's extended illness, plus the stress of the funeral took the toll on him.

 It is indeed possible to die from a broken heart. When he does finally die, I am sure that will be the cause, not the many health issues he has been battling. I am sure he feels lost without Barbara by his side. God bless and comfort him. He is said to be a very strong-spirited man. Perhaps he will rally and make it to Maine this summer as he wishes to.
