@Trinity11

OK, I give.  I think we used to say "FINS!!" up in North Jersey in the 50s.  I hope whoever looked at my FB page enjoyed all the family photos, because that's all that's there.

@JaneMarple, I did the same thing yesterday after reading. CNN article about how we should check to see what apps are there by third parties.  Wow, there were apps there that I was not familiar with.  I deleted them and those that I left were checked and 'saved' as seen by only me.

And from now on, I will not do any of those little FB quizzes and the like.  Those are the culprits.

And that's my point @LilacTree..... Facebook is not really all that different from here. One big difference is that on Facebook you can adjust your settings to PRIVATE. Here the entire world can see what we say. Surely, people posting about their jewelry collections complete with photos and photos of people's homes are not private here. If someone wants to share home improvements on Facebook they can adjust their settings to only allow their friends and family seeing them.

I have never done FB and never will.  Zuckerberg is looking out for #1 - always has  - always will.  I never trusted anything he has ever said.

OK, so here's the reality for everyone.  I am not talking about FB or anything else on line.  I am talking about this forum.

We can't talk politics, religion, or controversial topics.  Add to that NO personal experiences, nothing about our daily lives, illnesses, interactions with others, photos . . . leaving only one thing we can discuss . . .

QVC PRODUCTS !!!

. . . which leaves me, for one, with absolutely nothing to write about!!  Might as well sink this ship!!

Nobody in this thread is telling you that you can't talk about personal experiences, etc.  They're just pointing out (correctly, IMO) that it doesn't make sense for someone who is wary of Facebook to post personal information here, when the information is not any safer...and may very well be less safe.

@WenGirl42

I would never put the info on FB that I discuss here.  I only have photos and short "Happy Birthdays" on FB and NOTHING in my profile, or whatever it's called, not even my birth date.  So I am not "wary" about FB.  I posted the warning more for everyone here, not myself.

I also didn't say people were telling me not to post personal information, I said if that was what the criteria is, I would have nothing to say at all.

And no one can convince me the thing that happened on FB could also happen here.  Nobody even knows about this forum.  Yes, it does go to Google and that ticked me off when I saw it.  QVC should have prevented that from happening.

@LilacTree... do you remember the art work you posted from your daughter. Posters were very upset because it lead directly to her Facebook Page.

I am not saying this should upset you but that is just how easy it is to forget that information from this forum is just as out there as Facebook.

@Trinity11

She doesn't even have a Facebook page . . . never did.  It might have led to her website, which I explained is public and meant to attract business.

I remember it differently and I will just end the conversation @LilacTree, that Facebook is no different than posting on these forums.

Have a good evening.

With the way some people post here on QVC, many of us can fill in their story libes

Kids and their occupations including their spouses.

Family squabbles.

Vacations

Home's value.

Etc......

So who needs facebook when we have the forums to visit and get to live out the trials and tribulations of others?

I defriended myself years ago.  Lol. However, my newly retired husband has taken to it, and our ads and tracking  have tripled ..  I am livid.  He may have been an aerospace engineer, but he is clueless to certain things.

I love my Facebook account and have now reason to close it, FB has allowed me to reconnect with two old and dear friends as well as many other people who were in my life at some point
