@chickenbutt wrote:Jewel - At least you just get the banner. What we get is that, first, it changes the channel to some SD channel with Senate hearings (or something like that), Then the SCREECHING thing that continues on, then the screen is overtaken with this black screen with the white writing that scrolls through it twice. Then, it goes back to that SD channel and then back to the channel you were on.
If you were watching a recording, it just takes you to whatever channel was on the first tuner and you have to go back in to your recordings and go to what you were watching.
Yes, that would be annoying! Yikes!

Wow! Is that due to earthquakes or for terror attacks?

It's nothing to excited or worried about.
I agree, the emergency alerts should work and we should always pay attention. What upset me was this is the first FEMA alert I've ever seen and I wondered if there were a deeper reason for it.

Ooh that it weird jewel. I get the emergency broadcast thing on TV for like natural disasters - never saw FEMA spelled out. Could it be a regional thing? As far as the way they ID it?

Just as they said it's test.. We had it today too so it must have been nationwide.

@Mominohio You understood exactly what my sentiments were! Unfortunately I'm sure there is so much we don't know about, or should know about (I'm not one to believe the government needs to tell me everything if it hurts national security or the ability to keep us safe!), I was just taken by surprise with this new alert system! We get the weekly and monthly banners with the squawking, but I've never seen the wide, green banner from FEMA!

Is this a regular test for you? Maybe they are just going nationwide now. I just had never seen it before and it was a lot wider than the usual scrolling banners with alarms sounding!
