Has passed away.  He was 91.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

Ed Asner in Naples: Out of the newsroom, under the CAT scan

A dependable actor with an impressive resume.  Still working at 91 with a long list of projects.

Godspeed.

How sad! I always thought that he came across as a nice fellow.

He'll be missed.😢

I saw his name in the header and hoped that the post would not go the predictable way -- but it did.

He was a decent fellow, I thought, and possessed substantial acting talent, too.   May he rest in peace.

Oh, that's sad news. I LOVED him on the Mary Tyler Moore Show. "I hate spunk." That is a classic TV line. He was excellent in Lou Grant, his own series, which was a more serious program. In the film Up, he was simply marvelous. RIP

To be very frank, I really thought he was older than 91, MTM premiered 51 years ago, he certainly appeared to be older than 40 at the time. Very well respected actor, he was just on The Talk a few months ago.

I am sorry to hear this.

I loved him on the MTM show but one of my favorite movies that he did was called "The Gathering."  We try to watch it every Christmas as it is so touching.

Sorry to hear this. Always enjoyed him. I think he did a live stage show not too far from here (PA.) a month or so ago and was on the local news.
