I know nothing of Dr. Giroir's political background, as I know nothing about Dr. Fauci's or Dr. Birx's. My only encounter with him was seeing him talk yesterday. My comment is that he is an exceptionally gifted communicator on the Task Force, who spoke to me as a prospective patient with worries or concerns that hadn't maybe been addressed thus far. I believe that constantly injecting politics into this is counter-productive.
There has been constant injecting of politics into this on these forums, subtle and not so subtle, on both sides. Including conspiracy theories that most certainly are counterproductive.
None of the doctors involved should have any agenda other than public health and truthful information. Before praising any of them I would just check into their background and possibly have concerns based upon that. And that's all @tansy was talking about. Possibly that's all. I'm not keeping up with the press conferences.
What you just said about your personal feelings about this dr is your right @Oznell, just as any others have the right to have concerns.

While I heartily agree with some of your thoughtful critique, @Greeneyedlady21 , here's where I depart: I do believe, personally, that comments about the efficacy of the communication skills of a physician on the task force, don't really call for a partisan political response in a thread like this. I don't think anyone is making a "recommendation" about any of the task members outside of their performance in this present, urgent circumstance. To pull extraneous factors into this specific discussion, I believe, leads to a furthering of the divisiveness we all want to avoid.

For some additional insight into some of the brilliant scientists working on this issue, please Google Rachel Maddow's interview with Dr. David Ho.
As a young scientist, he was instrumental in "cracking the code" of how the HIV virus replicated itself. He was named Times Man of the Year in 1996 or so.
He is now focusing on the Corona virus.

My son is an older millennial. He has an apartment in Manhattan for during the work week. He told me that last week all the young people there were acting like nothing is wrong and thought it was pathetic.
He has since moved to his country house in CT and is staying at home. Some millennials are behaving appropriately.

Oh, his younger than millennial girlfriend is doing the same thing. So there is another responsible young person.

@jonbon ....... My feeling exactly. I would guarantee most of the ones on spring break, etc. are Generation Z. Surprising how many do not know Generation Z exists and that some of Generation Z are now young adults. The two generations that keep pointing figures at each other for what is right or wrong needs to wake up and realize there is another young adult generation in existence.

@haddon9 ....... What I am trying to figure out actually had nothing to do with her age. For the record my Mother was 38 when I was born. As one of the post below mentioned millennials would be aged between 24 and 39. Another post said Generation Z would be between 8 and 23. So, it would appear to me that Generation Z are the ones that should have been referenced. I think people are forgetting there is another generation approaching adulthood.
It would have been nice if she had let us know her daughters response to her comment.
That was my thought, as well. Millennials aren’t the ones on spring break, etc. (for the most part)—college kids are mostly Gen Z. I think for many people, “Millenial” is the catch all term they use for “young adults” (especially when being critical of them).
The doctor made no mention at all of "spring break." And she was in NO WAY critical of millenials or young adults.
I didn't mean that she had (I only know what I read here of what she said) -- merely that others had mentioned young people out and about partying (including St. Pat's partying and spring break in Florida). My main point was that Millenial was a catch phrase for "young people," and that some of them are already nearly 40! My apologies if I offended you in some way.

Dr. B. reminds me of those bobble-head dolls on the back of cars.
