Re: Do u get Sunday night blues?

Good evening:

I am on summer hiatus right now so the Sunday Night Blues are not an issue; however, in a week and a half, I will experience them full throttle.  I am 54 years old and have worked in the same place going into my 27th year so think I am just tired of the rat race.  I think about retirement every day.

Re: Do u get Sunday night blues?

I sometimes have Sunday night angst.  It’s nice to get a break from mail/email over the weekend, and I worry about the Monday return of all this.

I got the Sunday night blues when working/going to school, which was most of my life.  Now that I’m retired it’s the reverse.  I look forward to Mondays when peace and quiet return as people go back to work.

Re: Do u get Sunday night blues?

Absolutely...I do not think I will ever be over the Sunday night blues.

It does not matter if Monday morning brings something enjoyable or not so much.

When I was little, I hated school...separation anxiety thing.  When the Ed Sullivan Show started on Sunday night, that was my cue to begin crying, stressing and worrying.

It is bizarre that after all of the years, it still remains.

@Goldengate8361

Hmmm! Sunday night blues but "no interest in retiring"?  To each be their own. I personally am not even aware of the day of the week unless I have an appointment. Retired 28 years ago and have never looked back.

Re: Do u get Sunday night blues?

I am not saything anything no one else had said.  So I won't LOL

Spoiler

I've actually known a couple people who LOVED Monday's.  I thought that was a little odd.

The only time I loved Monday's was because I was working weekend shift.  So Monday was my Friday and Friday was my Monday. That might be the only time you will hear people say they liked Monday's (no, the people I know who LOVED Monday's was people who worked a standard M-F week).

To the poster who said she is resigning Friday.  Hopefully you have another job lined up. It is hard find work now a days. Leaving a job without another lined up is silly.

Re: Do u get Sunday night blues?

Oh, my --- I used to get so --- well, almost depressed just about every Sunday evening when I worked!  I've been retired for a few months now and I still get that feeling --- a little bit --- not as much.

It's hard when you work all week because your free time is limited and you try to make the most of it.

I remember Friday at 5:00 --- this was the absolute best feeling!  I actually kind of miss that feeling --- although not enough to go back to work.  LOL!!!

Weekends I remember were always so busy --- trying to do housework, laundry, food shopping, going to visit family, and then hopefully if you had any time left at all, maybe getting to do something fun with your spouse or significant other!  Or even just plain relaxing for a bit!

Mondays --- ewwww --- always dreaded Monday mornings!

Re: Do u get Sunday night blues?

Actually, since I’m retired, I’m opposite.  I get the Friday night blues.

I’m not a fan of weekends anymore. Nothing gets done as stuff is closed and I’m bored.

I’m at my happiest on Monday morning, with five weekdays ahead of me.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

Re: Do u get Sunday night blues?

I think every person who works feels that way.  Weekends fly by,  we never get all the things we planned done and it seems like we go from that Friyayy!  feeling to "back to work in the morning" feeling in the snap of a finger.  I'm like you, it's not about the work or the job itself.  I love my job.  I work from my home office so it isn't even about commuting.  We had a great day socializing and eating out with friends yesterday.  As the evening rolled around, we were all in that  "back to work tomorrow"  feeling.
