Fortunately no.  What I see going on with my own eyes on a day-to-day basis is disturbing enough.

Yes, all the time.  So then I tried 'white noise' to aid in sleep thinking this would help my sleep patterns, it does not apparently.

I have nightmares on a regular basis. Smiley Sad Usually of drowning. Sometimes I’m riding in the backseat of a car that goes off the road and into a body of water. Other times I’m walking along a trail on a cliff next to the ocean and come upon an area that’s eroded and now I have to jump over gaping holes that have water swirling in them.  I lose my footing and then splash! Bear in mind I can’t swim so it’s terrifying.

I’ve had these nightmares of drowning since I was a kid. Sometimes I wonder if It’s because I drowned in a former life.

In the other nightmare i frequently have, I’m alone in my house when somebody tries to break in. They’re actually kicking down the door. I try to call 911 but I keep dialing the wrong number. Or I keep getting hung up on.  I think the cause of that nightmare (and maybe the one of drowning too) is because I have a lot wrong in my life and feel pretty helpless and overwhelmed.

@Anonymous032819   I've been watching that new tv show called Evil and the main character, a woman, has nightmares and ever since I sometimes do also.  It got me to thinking what if evil forces could visit you in your dreams.  I never thought about that subject at all until watching the new show.  Maybe I should stop watching.

I don't know your age or health situation but you probably need to get checked out.

Even with a "nightmare", you shouldn't wake up with your heart pounding.

My DH gets nightmares. ( police officer)  He screams and thrashes and cries in his sleep.  When I wake him up, his heart is pounding.  When you are afraid or nervous, real or just dreaming, your body reacts to it.  Often this includes a strong heartbeat.

I had a dream of a sexual nature and it was so real.  I woke up and my heart was really pounding and I was breathing heavy....best dream I ever had.

@Carmie  A man I knew from my 20's up until the time I got married, constantly wanted a physical relationship with me.  We had been friends for a long time and he felt it was just a natural progression which annoyed me because he always knew that I didn't see him like that.  Many years later, he passes away and I'd been married many years too and I wake up in a dream like you mentioned and it was him.  I was so mad.  It made me feel like he finally suceeded.  I know I know, it was a dream or actually a nightmare!!!!!

Yes, I have them a lot.  About my mother who is in a nursing home.  I doubt if I am alone in this.

@ann1989   Oh that is awful.

In my dream I was with my husband.  When I woke up and reached out to him, he wasn't there.

I told him about my dream and he laughed and said, I could have been with anyone and I chose him.  I didn't choose anyone...I was dreaming.

You didn't choose your friend either...it was just a dream.

Yes.  It's a known negative side effect of a medication I am on. A postive side effect of the same med is that it helps me go to sleep within 10 to 20 minutes of going to bed and back to sleep quickly when I wake to go to the bathroom or from a bad dream.

No; nightmares have never been a problem for me.
