All those that started with Oprah have become promoters of products/books they push. I think Dr. Oz promotes too many types of vitamins, etc. Some days his show is informative, but other days it's too much with the demos and promoting products. By the way, what happened to Nate Berkus? Don't see his items on HSN any more.

I used to watch him but he promotes anything and everything...then 2 months later he promotes things that he had condemned. He's not credible!
He should just stick with his Cardiology practice!

But isn't that the way all "health" information is now? What's the health fad one day will kill you tomorrow? I can't keep up with it all, so that's one reason I record him--at least I hear some information I wouldn't know about otherwise. And like I say, I pick and choose.

I agree. I stopped watching his show when he promoted one item and in a matter of weeks promoted something that was a total contradiction to the first item. There is entirely too much information in terms of vitamins, herbs, pills, teas, formulas, etc. I also became skeptical when he had the Psychic on his show. That was just too much.

No one insists you buy any products he advocates. But he is a health physician, being a cardiac surgeon, so what else should his show be about other than ways to take care of our body, and thus prevent heart disease. There are millions of ways, dating back before early Chinese medicine, but he just introduces the audience to what is out there and what it can do for the body if you choose to take it. He doesn't insist you do it. Free will remains. It's your own fault if you have to buy everything he speaks to.
It doesn't make him a quack, he does bring other experts on. Would you prefer he spend an hour on fashion or gossip rather than health? It's not his thing.

A brilliant physician with excellent credentials, however like anyone else, too much exposure is too much. Perhaps a few day a week discussing pertinent health topics would be so beneficial to the general audience, he has a wonderful way of communicating with the average person, but the almighty dollar dictates everything and can be quite corrupting.

I like to watch the show.

Why would anyone buy everything he suggests? He is a doctor, and his show is all about HEALTH. He can't talk about anything else, so it's not unreasonable for him to always be informing people of what's out there and what it can do for the body. After all, there is really nothing new, everything available now has been around in some form or another for 2,000 years. Look at ancient Chinese medicine. We are just learning that it all wasn't such a hoax after all, but mostly right on the money, and now our drugs, diets, etc. are based on the same principles. Dr. Oz brings in experts in every field of health. He just presents the information and all known information about it. It tickles me that people think he is a quack and misinterprets what he is doing.
Just because you get caught up in the hype and think you must buy this and take that isn't his fault. He doesn't say you must take everything. He just provides the information and the facts, shows us what it is and what it can do, and tells us in what amount to take it if we choose to do so.
It's up to you to use common sense and judgement about it. Where is your common sense ?
