I saw somewhere the aviation industry is expecting to lay off 22,000 people.

This is from my memory which isn't that great these days.

I'm full of useless information about a wide variety of 'stuff'.

The Disney Company got hit on many fronts.....remember they also own ABC & ESPN too....

Movie theaters were closed so they didnt get income from blockbuster summer movies....or in fact any movies....

Then there's the amusement parks that were shut down as  tourism took a nose dive....

Even their sports Division, ESPN, with that long period where there were no games...ratings suffered....and big salaried show hosts and sports analysts were asked to take pay cuts.... And others were given their "walking papers".......................

And then a lot of their TV reality shows were shut down, I bet the participants were all under contract and had to stll be paid....

Just another industry hit by the pandemic.......

I'm sorry to hear about Disney. I am sure most of the layoffs are in California. What a tragic state!

We already have what you are demanding. There are plenty of places with no lockdowns just like you demand. Plenty of children back in schools. If you are right that that's all it takes to make things good again, it should happen very soon.

TN just lifted all restrictions. So I will wait for the magic you've promised. I'd be very happy if it happened, but I see no logical reason to think it would.

Feel free to vacation or relocate to FL or GA or TN where you can bask in the glorious freedom to easily catch a serious disease and where, just like you, no one cares what happens to you.

   I did not Demand anyone  do anything . I voiced my opinion   based on what I have learned  other countries have done in response to this pandemic . Hiding in caves  like cave people is not  the answer . Some countries have been successful  in not imposing massive strict lockdowns .  Some states issued such crazy lockdowns as not even allowing their  citizens to buy garden seeds . So what's up with that  type of restriction ? People were mandated to stay home locked indoors and the local Home Depot ect could not sell them garden seeds ...  So, if you are complaining abt the freedom allowed in your state  , you were welcome to have  visited a state that was  the most restrictive as  Michigan. 

 I am a Nurse and over the years had the courage to have  provided direct care to all kinds of patients with all kinds of illnesses . Yes we had some  PPE equipment  but I never had a big plastic bubble around me to 100% protect me from  some very serious illnesses such as TB . I  remember  years ago when we  were not provided any gloves or masks on a routine basis . I remember when HIV , SARS, MERS  were all   newly identified.  I spent  close to 40 yrs working with ill patients , so I know that  life does take courage  and  self responsibility  in dealing with contagious illnesses .

To those of you who think we should stay locked down, all I have to say is that staying home is an elite privelege. I'm glad you can afford it. Some people need the income from their small businesses, and if you think they should stay closed because you are tired of staying home and avoiding a virus, who is selfish?

@suzyQ3. I am not denying the facts. I see in the local paper how many have died. I do question though if they differentiate between dying with the virus and dying DUE to the virus. I know some have died due to other reasons but do happen to have tested positive. I think the death rate is much lower now than it was in rather beginning. This is a sad state of affairs for sure.

This worry of yours has been debunked over and over. Many with other ailments often die after contracting the virus. It's the virus that ultimately caused their death. If something else was the primary cause, then both would be on the report. If anything, the death rate might be even higher than stated, especially in the early months of the pandemic. Maybe @pitdakota can weigh in here.

As for the death rate being lower now, I don't know. It might be. More younger people are getting sick.

But things can change on a dime with this virus. Plus, many have experienced a horrible time once infected; and many have long-lasting problems.

I wholeheartedly agree with your last sentence.

If they're in the entertainment industry, there's no entertainment without an audience. Lack of safety measures and the existence of disease clusters and hotspots, and the lack of trust in the local authorities, chases away a large number of the audience. The value proposition isn't there for the audience. Therefore the audience isn't there to pay for the tickets. Then there's no money to put on a show. Show closes. Elementary.

If they're in the hospitality industry, there's no hospitality without guests. They are providing as service. And if circumstances mean no one wants the service. Or if a lot fewer people want the service, there will be no money and no jobs in that industry. It will collapse. Elementary.

If they're in the travel industry, and other countries won't let us in because we carry diseases, there's no travel. See where this is going. Elementary. Everyone predicted this when we all said we needed to ****** Covid in the bud immediately. And now we get to experience all the consequences from our actions.

I love the Grand Floridian. We have stayed their twice. I hope Disney doesn’t close any of their resorts. I do understand that if you have been laid off, paying the rent or buying food comes ahead of a Disney trip.
