Cigarette smokers are used as cash cows, the taxes on them are ridiculous. Don't smoke never have but it bothers me the way cigarette smokers are treated...pot smokers are treated with more respect. The posters are correct, you have to make sure it's legal to buy online & ship them to the state you live in. Good Luck.

I applaud high taxes on those nasty things. I'd love to see them taxed beyond the reach of most people.

I had a neighbor who lived hand to mouth and she would go without food to buy cancer sticks.

This is 100% correct. I worked for the state of Pa for 35 years. Our taxes are much higher than surrounding states on alcohol and I think cigarettes. So you can lose considerable money when crossing state lines...if you're caught.

I don't know why that would happen. It's not illegal, they are labled, taxed (lower rate), and stamped. Unless she was reselling them.

They are to be for personal use, if she bought a large amount, maybe that flags the purchase?

The NA aren't selling illegal cigarettes. The casinos are legal. They have certain rights that the public at large wouldn't. They deserve much more.

There is something just not right about the tobacco companies seducing people, often the young, into developing this highly addictive, hard-to-break habit, then our legislators impose a tax so high the cost of the product is prohibitive. Often those who can least afford it are the ones hooked. For decades military personnel were encouraged to smoke by the cheap prices, $1.90/carton when I was active military, then they are forbidden to smoke in VA hospitals. Certainly, the habit is dangerous but some people just can't kick it like our OP, so they are now severely punished for succumbing to the appealing ads of the tobacco industry. This is so wrong.

I quit smoking in May16th 1990. Have not had one puff since that day. Quit cold turkey.

Cigarettes cost $1.95 a pack....and I thougHt THAT was too much!

When I see these homeless people smoking today. I wonder how they can afford to smoke? Not only does it kill you and make others sick around you....it COSTS TOO DARN MUCH!
