I hope the US sends his behind back there to be tried properly. Fairer treatment than what he deserves.

Sadly, it isn't a new species at all.

Update: Cecil's Cubs (from Daily Mail UK)
The cubs fathered by Cecil the lion are being protected by his brother amid fears they will be killed by a male rival, researchers said today.
The much-loved lion was killed by American dentist Walter Palmer earlier this month, sparking outrage around the world.
After his death, there were fears his cubs would be killed by the next lion in the hierarchy so he could father his own offspring with the females in the pride.
But a team at Oxford University's Wildlife Conservation Unit, which had been studying Cecil before he was shot dead, said the lion's brother had stepped in to safeguard the young.

.....and if this dentist didn't have something to hide, why did it take him so long to go to the authorities.....come on.....was he busy flossing???

A lion (Cecil's brother) has more sense than a human dentist.
Says a lot about the animal kingdom hierarchy.

@Pearlee
I've always been naive, I guess. But with so much (probably do to social media, too) I hear, read, see so many godawful things against children, women, the elderly and our furry friends - anyone defenseless - I've just become aware of this new species.

I read that too, but he wanted to kill an unusually large elephant and they couldn't find one big enough to satisfy him.
Just disgusting.

Funny, I hadn't heard of Cecil before but he was an international celebrity.

Commendable how animals protect each other. Perhaps us humans can learn from them and always step up to protect those who cannot protect themselves, just IMHO.
