Re: ••• COMPLAINING •••

I went through a difficult time last year and I know I kept complaining about the same things over and over to my family.  I’m sure they got tired of it.  Heck, I was tired of it.  I decided to try something different - - to only speak about my concerns and frustrations to a higher power (you choose what that is) and not say anything to others.  I’m not always successful but it helps me think about what I put out there.

Sorry OP--------------I ain't buying what you saved from FB. Complaing is a diverse thing. Some complain to anyone/everyone they see or may visit with in any situation. I listened to so many people complain to me that I came up with my own standard replies to them, which is what I always do and have done. Now this does not pertain to online websites or any other minute' things in my life. I would say to them: "Tell it to someone in a position to do something about your b****, and that ain't me". I have done a lot of complaing about many things in many occasions in my life. I however went to people or committies that had the power to change things. It is a very long list but here are 2 of them: (1)--- Got smoking in Public Indoor City Buildings in my City banned.---(2)--- Got smoking in AT&T Omaha Plants banned. Took many years, but got them done, all starting with me COMPLAINING. Now you think I would spend years of my own free hours to do that, and it effects my life negatively? You got some "splainin" to do to this old man!--------hckynut(john)---------E.T.A. I am and have been, since my teens, an Eternal Optimist. I did not live through 8 events in my life that kill thosands of people every single day by being a Pessimist. I very strongly believe that my mental strength and body's excellent physical conditioning allowed me to do so, with the help of some higher power. Your FB "quote" makes absolutely no sense in my personal life's experience, but maybe it does to some.

I think there are different types of complaining, some is needless and not helpful.  At other times it can bring about positive change.  I'm reminded of the serenity prayer.

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

It's interesting that some people didn't notice the very
point of the article is about
CHRONIC COMPLAINING
and doesn't say complaining is ALL bad.

So I edited the OP to help point out the fact.☺️

Thanks for the comments!

Re: ••• COMPLAINING •••

I would say an edit is not needed. Complaining is complaining. There's a saying in my plant-based eating world that's parallel to complaining:

"People like to hear good things about their bad habits"

If we add the addendum of "Chronic", many people reading this thread will go, "Whew...that's not me". Ah, yeah it is. I stand by my post upthread. People just have to have more love in their lives...or channel that pent up frustration some other way (!!).

John the OP abbreviation can mean Original Post as well
which was what I meant but I should've spelled it out
so sorry for the confusion.😊

The point was the article isn't about ALL complaining
it's only about CHRONIC COMPLAINING
and CHRONIC NEGATIVITY
but for some readers the meaning is getting lost
and they're taking it as meaning to never complain.

So I was trying to clear it up FWIW.

(Again my all caps isn't yelling,
I wish we could quote and use bold and underline etc on our iPads.?

HTH.😊👍

Re: ••• COMPLAINING •••

I try to practice my complaining several times a day ... usually at work.  I want to make sure I'm good at it when I really need it.  LOL Smiley Happy  Practice makes perfect! Smiley Wink
