I haven’t made a new year’s resolution for at least 25 years. It became something people did because it was an ‘everyone expects it’ thing and most people know it’s not going to happen even as they reveal their resolution.
Yes...most people give up on their good intentions after a few weeks.

Here in the CST, it’s not even 10 hours into the New Year...

That's a nice wish but it's purely rhetorical. People are people and nothing will ever change that. Also, I don't think anyone wants a board that stiffles the free exchange of ideas and opinions. What would be the point?

But then what would we be allowed to post about, LOL!

I'm with you, I never make New Year 'resolutions'.
If I know I need to make a change to my attitude, habits, lifestyle, etc., I do it when I realize it, I don't wait for the 'New Year'.

I don't make resolutions at New Year's. Trying to do our best, be civil with others with whom we disagree-- that's something that I hope most people work on, on a year round basis.
Social media would be restored to some semblance of civility if people discussed topics without hurling personal insults at those posters with whom they disagree. It's been said over and over, but I believe it is patently true-- if posters did not have the cloak of anonymity (sp?), the amount of contemptuous, rude, disrespectful behavior would drop dramatically. What a fab trend it would be for 2018-- posters treating the people with whom they interact on line as other human beings.
