I've been thinking the same thing....and today my State addressed wakes and funerals. i went to a crowded wake and funeral a week ago....just before we knew this was coming....no matter who gets married...or who dies...sorry...i'm staying home...i'm 70 with auto-immune issues....

If they are catering the event and the restaurant has been closed, they would have to.

My daughter had an out of state wedding to go to this coming weekend and it was cancelled.

Just imagine planning your wedding for a year, putting down deposits, only to have this happened.
I feel for the disappointment that this would cause.

I am in Illinois and my son in law's brother is to get married the end of this month. They had to postpone it to the end of July.
My daughter's friend in St Louis has an August wedding scheduled. They asked her if she wanted to move it back!

As Of last night the Guideline is no group larger than 10 to 50 people, depending on your state. Look up on your local CDC.

Just to clarify, the way my employer operates, we are legally responsible for all food and beverage at any of our events and, save for a professionally made wedding cake, our license demands we have complete control of all food from start to finish in the event of an illness.
No outside catering allowed. No kitchen, no event.

my daughter wedding was planned for this saturday. it was finally canceled yesterday by the hotel due to governor hogans (maryland) executive order. she also canceled her honeymoon trip to st maarten, dutch side. we had to make a lot of phone calls, send a lot of texts, and make a facebook announcement.
we were due to have family and friends from all over the usa, canada, and the uk.
she has been so stressed out the past few weeks. i feel so sorry for her. there had been a lot of planning over the past year or so.
we are now having a small, intimate gathering on saturday at home so that they can be married. we are having it catered by a couple of our favorite local restaurants. i ordered a small wedding cake this afternoon.
she will now be having an anniversary party next march. it is already booked by her wedding planner at the hotel. there were not a lot of dates to choose from, but she happened to have one in march 2021. we will celebrate their first year together.

I'm not really concerned about the cancellation of a wedding or a reception, but I am concerned about wakes and funerals. A wedding can be rescheduled or people can just have a very small celebration. I'm not a fan of destination weddings and never attend them, honeymoons can also be rescheduled.
