@RespectLife We're in MD and high taxes here are the norm. County taxes just increased by 10% and they WILL be going up each year for the next few years. Not to mention MD is listed at the top of the list as the worst place to retire due to double taxation. So, yeah, we are used to it.

We don't mind it as long as we see something for what we're paying. Ain't nothing free and you get what you pay for is something we know is true.

Well I'm not sure about Rochester because I haven't been there in a while but in my part of NY you can contemplate your high taxes and where they go while you sit at the mechanic waiting for your latest pothole induced repair. That might have been me today. Smiley LOL

Re: Anyone in or from Rochester, NY?

@Shelbelle   Yes, I do. It's about 5 minutes away, lol.

@pigletsmom  Funny you wrote that. 2 of the people I spoke with about Rochester informed that the county where it is located makes sure the roads are FANTASTIC but not so much in other parts of the state, lol. They said they could always tell when they crossed out (not great roads) and crossed in (great roads). : )

Moved from Fairport/Perinton to Charlotte about 20 years ago.  The eastern suburbs are probably a safer choice.......Pittsford, village of Fairport, town of Perinton, have a friend who lives in Penfield. A bit further out is Mendon and Victor.

Well that's good to know. I'm hopeful now that the Governor is living here full time and driving his classic cars around the city he'll take note of our third world roads. Smiley Wink

My oldest son & family lives in Webster and loves it there. It is a beautiful community on Lake Ontario and is close to RU where he works.
