Re: Amazon Deliveries

[ Edited ]

Add me to the many who love Amazon. I order about twice a week, EVERY week, and always get my package in 2 days. QVC orders take about 12 days to get to me.

I've been getting strange tracking notations on various shipments lately.  One was "package in transit and scheduled for UPS delivery attempt to recipient on next UPS business day".   That was 9/9/17.  I guess that's a roundabout way of saying they'll attempt to deliver it on Monday, 9/11.  Today it reads that it was delivered by USPS.  It will be a surprise when I get home from work to see just where they left it.  The postal carrier has been leaving my packages on my neighbor's porch lately!

I order a lot from Amazon (Prime member) and have had very few delivery problems.  Some orders even arrive before the due date.

Most of my glitches have been with Amazon local service.  Usually no problem with UPS or the Post Office.

Amazon has a complaint forum, so I know other customers are having issues.

For those of you who love to brag about Amazon's fast deliveries and compare them to QVC.  I ordered a 25lb bag of dog food, 12 cans of canned and some treats on Friday. Got a guaranteed delivery date of today.  The USPS lady showed up with all except the 25lb bag as it was sent UPS Innovations. About 4pm I got an email that the 25lb bag would be delayed.  Looks like Amazon is approaching a downhill slide.  This was a Prime order.

Amazon only guarantees 2-day shipping if they ship it. A third-party seller doesn't need to adhere to that. Just because you buy something on Amazon doesn't mean you're buying directly from Amazon.

I buy things all the time from vendors who clearly, up front, give an arrival date that's more like 5-6 days than 2. But this is stated before you click Buy, so you can change your mind if that's not to your liking.  Amazon is not "responsible" for every item they sell being warehoused and shipped by them directly. Not to mention, many, many items are not, and never will be, eligible for Prime shipping speed, or Prime at all.

Having a Prime membership does not (and has never) meant that every item for sale on their website will arrive at your home within 48 hrs of you hitting "Buy." It has never meant that. But people want it to mean that, so they keep repeating it. Not true and has never been true. Also not true is that everything sold on the Amazon website is eligible for, and will be shipped, under Prime. Many vendors refuse to be a part of the Prime program.

It's up to purchasers to read all fine print (in Amazon's case it's not even fine, but pretty large) as to when to expect items.

I've had third party items arrive early and I've had them arrive at the very end of their projected dates. I never considered this had anything at all to do with Amazon or 2-day Prime, because I know it doesn't.

I have never seen Amazon use UPS and pass it on to USPS.  They do use UPS, but it has never gotten passed on.  Are you sure it wasn't another purchase from another store?

I totally agree with SarahW.  If you are dissatisfied, by all means cancel your Prime membership.  No use sitting around complaining.  Take some action and go on to another company like the one person who is going on to Jet.  Good luck with Jet.

Today I received my Mally TSV from the Q.  I must be near a warehouse because sometimes I receive my purchase in two or three days.  I am quite happy with QVC's delivery.

For the person whose packages are being dropped off at the management office.  Can the driver get into your building or does he need a security key for entry?  Possibly he has tried and decided your package might be safer in the management office?  Either way, have you called Amazon Logistics themselves and talked to them.  Tell CS  you need to talk to them directly.  The Logistics Department write the directions for the drivers and will pass along any information you might want to convey about where you would like your packages to be left.

Amazon also has an option where you can have no rush shipping and get a $1.00 credit towards songs or books.  I use that quite often too.

I also have to add their Prime Day a few months ago was the best!  I got so many things for great prices.

I absolutely love Amazon!!

@hellodali  You'd better brace yourself because UPS is definitely passing off Amazon packages to USPS now.  My dog food delivery didn't come today so I called Amazon who called USPS to discover my shipment is still in Arizona and I won't get it for at least 2 more days.  They are sending me a bag free as an apology.  Now I have to go out and find some dog food for tonight.

Well, you could hit the drive-thru tonight, I suppose.  I hear they like that stuff.

I placed two orders on Friday that were delivered on Sunday.  One was an empty envelope.  I called Amazon immediately, and they refunded my money.

On Sunday I placed an order that was Prime and said it would be delivered on Thursday, which was very irritating.  It arrived today, though (Tuesday), so I was glad about that.  Overall, I think Amazon usually has the quickest delivery and best Customer Service.

@mistriTsquirrel  Love the collies; my last one died in May.  Now I need to have smaller dogs.

@Kachina624  Aww...I'm sorry.  I just figured you would enjoy the photo since they look like the doggy in your profile pic.
