For sure I'm getting to the point where I don't care anymore. It's too much to fight against. As long as me and my family are safe, I pretty much feel the rest of the world (country) can do as it will. I'm tired.
If people want a world where women, poc, people with different sexualities, etc are second class, let them have at it. If people want to blame the poor and children for what's wrong with the world, let them have at it. If people want shysters fattening their pockets while taking away from those who need help, let them have at it. None of it is currently impacting me or mine.
I'm sick of it all.

@suzyQ3 I was just thinking back to when I was young and remember that men and women who didn't " flirt" were considered shy, cold or stuck up.I think people really have changed the rules of engagement over the years for the best.I am not referring to rape as that has always been criminal in my lifetime.I am a victim of unwanted advances myself but time has passed and I moved on without any difficulties.I remember discussing some of these issues with my mom who at that time told me that I was lucky that men found me attractive. So there it is...the way it was and no sympathy or disdain even from my mother.

It's troubling no matter when it happened. I think things are better today than in the past in terms of reporting things and being taken seriously.

@dex, yes, there was a time when girls and women were told to go with the flow and not disturb the status quo. The status quo was that man had the upper hand and could get away with unwanted advances. In fact, many girls and women were even advised not to report rape.
Times have changed for the better. Still, that does not excuse past behavior. It is not a winning defense.
And again, I ask that we define our terms as I did in my first post. It's crucial to do so.

@goldensrbest, so you are not talking about actual harassment but just talk?
We can't control how people talk. But if such talk involves realistic scenarios of what the boy or man has done, that's a whole different story.

I don't befriend people who are into gossiping about "allegations" of any kind. I would walk away.

No, both are equally "troubling".

We can't control how people talk in private. But if such talk involves realistic scenarios of what the boy or man has done, that's a whole different story.
In a public or work environment, though, any kind of very demeaning or sexist language is no longer acceptable and might have have consequences the speaker may not like.

@Maudlynn, I can't tell you how many times I've sung that song. But as long as I'm alive and kicking, I will protest in my own way. Please reconsider. You have a very strong voice. :-)
