@pateacher let us know how if you like "The Maidens." I have this book on hold at the library.
I'm reading "Miss Julia Speaks Her Mind" by Ann B. Ross. Someone in the forum mentioned this book, and I'm enjoying it.
The book takes place in a small town in North Carolina. Julia Springer, a rich widow, has her life turned upside down when a woman arrives at her doorstep with a young boy, claiming that she was the mistress of Julia's late husband and the boy is his illegitimate son. Everything she thought about her husband and her structured life has changed as she tries to do the right thing for the child.
The book is written with humor which displays small town living. I like Julia a lot and will most likely check out the other books in this series.
