On someone's recommendation I've been reading the first book in the Bridgerton series ..... reminds me a little of Downton Abbey.

@icezeus , thank you for picking up @sunala 's work on the book thread.  ❤️

I just finished The Restorer by Amanda Stevens.  Goodreads rates this 3.89.

The story is about a woman who restores cemeteries and gets involved in a series of murders.  It is also a bit of a romance story which is not usually my thing.  It kept me coming back to find out the ending and the ending left the story open enough for the next book.  I enjoyed this book but I don't think Imcould read a series of it.  S

Re: JULY 2021 LET'S HEAR ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE READING

I am reading The  Midnight Library by Matt Haig:

Somewhere beyond the edge of the universe there is an an infinite number of books, each one the story of another reality. One tells the story of your life as it is, along with another book for the other life you could have lived if you had made a different choice at any point in your life. While we all wonder how our lives might have been, what if you had the chance to go to the library and see for yourself? Would any of these other lives truly be better?

In The Midnight Library, Matt Haig's enchanting blockbuster novel, Nora Seed finds herself faced with this decision. Faced with the possibility of changing her life for a new one, following a different career, undoing old breakups, realizing her dreams of becoming a glaciologist; she must search within herself as she travels through the Midnight Library to decide what is truly fulfilling in life, and what makes it worth living in the first place.

Yesterday I finished The Paris Library by Janet Skeslien Charles. Our book club will be discussing this title next week.

I enjoyed the book, especially the vividly drawn characters.

This afternoon I will start The Maidens by Alex Michaelides, who also wrote The Silent Patient.

@icezeus Thanks for continuing the monthly thread.  I get so many good recommendations here.

@duffy2  I tried to give you an additional heart...twice! The gremlins are alove and kicking this morning!

@sunala My very best wishes, as well as prayers are coming your way.

@pateacher let us know how if you like "The Maidens." I have this book on hold at the library.

I'm reading "Miss Julia Speaks Her Mind" by Ann B. Ross. Someone in the forum mentioned this book, and I'm enjoying it.

The book takes place in a small town in North Carolina. Julia Springer, a rich widow, has her life turned upside down when a woman arrives at her doorstep with a young boy, claiming that she was the mistress of Julia's late husband and the boy is his illegitimate son. Everything she thought about her husband and her structured life has changed as she tries to do the right thing for the child.

The book is written with humor which displays small town living. I like Julia a lot and will most likely check out the other books in this series.
