Re: THE GREAT NECK CREAM DEBATE

For a long time I really didn't focus much on my neck. No particular reason other than probably laziness. And I was a devoted sun worshipper, both when young when I could, and then older using tanning beds. I didn't have tons of access to real tanning when younger due to going to camp every summer and there was no sun tanning time there. It was also a camp literally buried in the forest so we didn't have many open sky areas. I realize you still get some sun there but definitely more diffused. Spring breaks were my real tanning efforts s we always went somewhere sunny and warm.

For some reason, my neck just hasn't shown comparable aging to my face. Call it genetics or just plain pure luck but it is definitely not due to protecting it or using great products. Since it has maintained so well, I thought I'd at least try to keep something on hand now, separate from my face, because I go through face creams fast enough as it is (super dry skin that absorbs like mad) Neck products are generally cheaper so just makes sense to use them instead of the more expensive creams I use on my face.

I have used Skinn's Chin Up which does hydrate well and have read more positives about Strivectin's TL Neck and BE's Neck product than many others. And Diane Young's Coneflower does have a very loyal following. Diane was really one of the first to come out with a firming neck product which may account for why she has attained such loyal users. When they started using it, there wasn't much else out there to choose from for the neck region.

I did try Dr Denese's Triple Neck Smoother a couple of years ago when I went all Dr D for awhile and it does do a nice job but my neck has not required a lot of help (yet) so I can't judge how it would do for others wanting certain results. I have read that some experience more neck issues due to repeated weight loss and gain through the years and that was not something I really experienced. I did have some weight gain hitting meno but it didn't last that long nor was it excessive weight gain. Don't know if that is true but have read it in various articles and also noticed more neck aging in friends, even on the younger side, who did have a constant battle with more extreme weight gains and losses.

Re: THE GREAT NECK CREAM DEBATE

My neck and chest are extremly sensitive Smiley Sad I have found that I can use Estee Lauder resilance without any discomfort and it has a small amount of sunscreen SPF 15. My neck and chest are my most aged areas - my face has typical lines for a mid-50, minus a little help Smiley Wink from fillers or B-tx. I used to use Philosophy neck cream and really liked it, but don't notice a difference with the face cream I'm currently using.

Since you already get Botox and fillers, ask the professionals where you go if they do any topicals for the neck area. I know here they do Botox for the neck and it works great, especially if you have obvious aging signs. I have seen the before and after's on TV (the pictures where befores while the afters were live) They have been doing them here for a couple of years now.

Since you have such skin sensitivity on your neck, it might be easier for you to tolerate the professional treatments and since you already know you can handle them, this might be a good option.

Re: THE GREAT NECK CREAM DEBATE

I use whatever I put on my face on my neck. I have not used a neck cream that really impressed me.

Re: THE GREAT NECK CREAM DEBATE

People have different results with different creams b/c we are all different ages and have different issues and different skin. Wink I guess that goes for everything on this board, though, whether talking about your neck or your face or your body.

I just make sure whatever I use on my neck keeps it feeling moist and hydrated. Whenever I put on hand lotion during the day I pat some on my neck. That helps too, I find. Will any cream or serum pull in already crepey neck skin and make it tight? I doubt it.

I've said it hundreds of times, and I'll say it again: Avon Dramatic Firming Cream.

I cannot find that product on the Avon website.

Also, speaking of Avon, their SKIN SO SOFT Firm & Restore Age-Defying Corrective Neck & Chest Cream SPF 15 is very effective, inexpensive, and non-irritating.

Re: THE GREAT NECK CREAM DEBATE

The only official neck cream I've ever used is something from HSN--maybe Prai??? It came in a kit and I remember to use this about 2-3x/week. But for years now I've just been taking my regular face treatments (serums, oils, moisturizers) down to my neck and chest area. I figure, if it's good for my face, it's good for my neck. And keeping that below the chin area nice and moisturized is key, I think, for preventing lots of the common neck issues, like dryness and crepey-ness.
