I ordered something I needed and I picked the Tarte birthday gift as well.  I had no interest in the skincare because I knew it wouldn't work for my skin.

I don't care for the Tarte set at all but it was free so no harm, no foul.  The blush is just okay but not anything I would buy and honestly probably not anything I'll even use, although I kept it.  The lip color is horrible on me.  It makes me look embalmed.  Besides the color being bad, it's too matte and drying feeling.

As for the 3 free samples, I pick what I do but again, they are free so if I don't get them, it's fine.  Most of the samples are barely a one time use so it's not like I can really make a decision after using the sample anyhow.

@I am still oxox, I'm the OP and mostly I'm complaining about the free samples. If they offered the samples like Ulta does ( they don't specify them) I would be okay with it. But giving me a choice which I never get makes no sense. I like getting a sample of something I might be considering buying. Maybe I'm picky and petty but, don't ask me what samples I want, just send me what you have.

Sorry you feel that way, free is free and there is no guarantee that you will receive anything

I am a VIB and got a 20% off coupon to use November 10-15. The VIB Rouge members were able to shop before November 10. Anyway I'm shopping and was able to put a few items in my cart. I go to check out and get a message something in my cart has sold out! Why am I able to put something in my cart if it's sold out? Anyway I got annoyed, took everything out and will not purchase anything. This happens to me all the time. At this rate I will never get to VIB Rouge status. Oh well, Sephora's loss is Ulta's gain!

I know this is so unimportant in the grand scheme of things, but it does annoy me. I just got an order from Sephora and guess how many of the 3 samples I picked I got, none! I don't understand why they just don't send you any 3 they want ( which is what they do anyway)?

Same thing happened to me for the second time.  I'm pretty much done with Sephora anyway.  Their website is awful and like you, I never get the samples I choose.  I can order through company websites and get it quicker.

I agree.  It's so frustrating.  I received 3 incorrect samples.  They were hourglass primers, and I don't use primers.  It's beyong annoying.  The fragrance and skincare I wanted...not in box.  One box I got no samples and the other one I received 2 incorrect ones.

The only "perk" for me is that I can get 20% off items I use or give as gifts every year; especially as these items RARELY if ever go on sale. Since I only buy during that sale and because it's in the Fall (right before the holidays), I make one huge purchase and that's that.

I have over 10,000 points because there is NOTHING I want and, like everyone else mentioned, the good stuff is always gone.

The bad news is they are now going to have their points expire at the end of each year. Even more of a reason to shop elsewhere.

No, that information isn't correct.

Here's the info copied from the email I got about it

If you don't make a purchase, earn points, or redeem points, your Beauty Insider points will now expire after 18 months. As an active Beauty Insider member, these changes do not currently affect you. Don’t worry—should you become inactive in 2018 we will provide you with multiple reminders before your points expire if you are subscribed to our emails.

Ok. So it's 18 months and not a year; sorry. They still expire instead of just adding up. I asked the manager at my local Sephora why they're doing this and she said she had no idea but the complaints are overwhelming.

It doesn't make any sense as they're always out of stock on most things. I don't give a ****** about the points, so they can take them away whenever they want. The only thing I want is the 20% off. If THAT goes, bye bye Sephora for me.

They only expire if there has been zero activity for 18 months.  If someone hasn't had any activity for a year and a half, it seems fair to assume that person is no longer interested in Sephora, IMHO.  Also, you can keep your account "active" just by claiming your free birthday gift.  Below is clarifiication directly from Sephora:

"Any Beauty Insider can keep their account active in a few easy ways, such as redeeming a Beauty Insider reward of any value, claiming your free Birthday Gift annually, or making a purchase with your Beauty Insider account profile. At Sephora, our goal is to provide the most compelling prestige beauty reward program, ensuring all program perks continue to surprise and delight. For more information, and to ensure your account information is accurate and up to date, please visit client.service@sephora.com or call 1-877-SEPHORA."
