It was such a good makeup day today.  Smiley Happy

Before you start thinking, "what is this dumb squirrel so excited about?" let me tell you that I've been having problems with my health and with my skin, and I haven't been wearing makeup very much for quite awhile.  When I have worn makeup lately, it hasn't been looking so hot.

I decided it was time to try the Rimmel Lasting Finish Foundation I bought (half price!!), which EmilyNoel83 recommended.

I applied it with my Nyx makeup sponge.

The sponge application didn't allow the foundation as much coverage as it probably would've had with a brush or fingertips...but it looks nice that way.  I've been wearing it for hours, and it hasn't settled into fine lines or pores.  I will probably try applying it with a brush at some point to see how it looks that way, but I'm pretty happy with how it looks using the sponge.

I used a couple of my (discontinued) Avon eyeshadows, which gave me a color like this on my lids:

Than I added an aqua-colored eyeliner, like the third one in this picture:

It looks so pretty!!  I did a full line on my top lid and a half-line on the bottom, which I smudged to fade it out.  Then I topped the lines with an aqua eyeshadow.  I also put a champagne-colored liner on my lower waterline to brighten that area.  And I used Benefit Eye Bright (which I'd forgotten I owned) on the inner corners of my eyes.  I also have this age spot/sun spot on my cheek, and I put the Eye Bright there to neutralize that spot, then put a little bit of skin-tone concealer on top of it.  It worked really well.

I can't believe how pretty it turned out.

When I picked out which eyeliner I was going to use today, I honestly thought there was a good chance I would be throwing it in the garbage, because I thought it would look too gaudy...but it doesn't.  I love it!!

I can't remember the last time I felt like my makeup looked really good.  I'm really glad I decided to try this foundation and that I didn't just throw the liner away without trying it again.  I will definitely be wearing this look again in the future.  Heart

If you haven't tried the Rimmel foundation, the Nyx sponge or the Benefit Eye Bright, I hightly recommend them!!  And a champagne-colored liner on the lower waterline brightens your eyes without looking harsh, so that's something you may want to try if you haven't.

Yay for a good makeup day!!!

@mistriTsquirrel I hope you feel better soon and I just love that last picture of the victorious squirrel, lol! You'd love the super cute Douglas squirrel that hangs out at my place on the porch and bird feeders. He is a brat and chases all the birds and chipmunks off while he eats much of the ground seeds I put out for the quail and wild pigeons and doves but he can't get to the bird feeders because of the baffle I use. He is quite something, lol. Today he had a stand off with a huge western gray squirrel that was like three times bigger than him but that squirrel didn't even bat an eye, which made him mad because usually his chirping and pomp and circumstance rattles even the best of the  birds, lol.  So he ran in circles in a tantrum, lol! It is fun to watch the interactions.

@mistriTsquirrel - So glad you had such a good day with your makeup! Isn't it fun when you get a look that you're so happy with, even if you're not exactly sure how it will turn out and if you will keep it on? I LOVE colored eyeliners. I usually do a neutral lid and crease shadow and play it up like you did with a pretty colored eyeliner. I love the look I get! It's the time of year to break out my Teal Waters by LG! Smiley Happy

Thank you, @HappyDaze.  Smiley Happy

Yes, a good squirrel fight can be quite entertaining.

@mistriTsquirrel I love the turquoise liners. I have dark brown eyes and a light brown shadow across my lid with a turquoise liner pencil like Deep End from Urban Decay (they make a Razor Sharp liquid liner in same shade name) or Electric from a Urban Decay. That thin turquoise line makes my dark eyes stand out.

I even pair turquoise tops with brown bottoms or vice versa.

So glad that you had a good makeup day! The little things make us feel better.

@beach-mom  I don't know if you've heard of "palette bingo," but it's a fun little game that went around on YouTube for awhile.  You take one of your large eyeshadow palettes, assign the rows numbers or letters like a bingo board and draw letters or numbers out of a hat to tell you what eyeshadow colors you are working with...and you have to make them work together the best you can!!  This seems like it would be a fun party game for ladies who like makeup.  Here is a video of EmilyNoel83 doing this challenge, if you're curious.

I'm thinking you could lay your eyeliners and single shadows out on grids to do this as well.  (One or two choices from the eyeliner grid + 3 or 4 choices from the eyeshadow grid.)  Or you could draw shade names out of a hat.  It seems like a fun way to get those creative juices flowing!!

...or maybe I just have too much time on my hands, and a warped sense of what fun is...  Smiley Very Happy

@JustJazzmom  Yes!!

The aqua/turquoise + sand/brown color scheme is one that I love.  I had this combination in mind when I picked the interior paint colors for my house.  I love them together so much.

I've also been thinking of other color combos I like (just for eyeshadows and liners though, not for paint):

Wine + pink

Brown + mint green

Eggplant + silver or gray

Dark green or purple + yellow gold

Pastel combos

I used to use various colors of shadow to make "fans" of colors over my eyes, where the colors were laid out like this:

Of course, I was going to clubs back then...but I think a tamer version of this sort of look could be attained for non-club wear.

Thanks, @Katcat1.  Today is the first day in years that I've had fun putting my makeup on.  Smiley Happy
