For those who use a foundation brush

I you use a foundation brush to apply your make-up:

Do you wash it after every use?

How often do you wash it?

I was reading some comments here about some of the Beauties not using a brush because of no wanting/having time for daily washing.

I am a bite of a germ-a-phobe and I have thought to wash my brush after every use.{#emotions_dlg.blink}

I only use a tiny bite of make-up and I brush is off with a tissue before putting away and have never had a problem. I would think the BIG PROBLEM would be to have a washed and wet brush sitting around everyday. That much moisture would/could grow bacteria.

Re: For those who use a foundation brush

OK... I'll admit, I don't wash my brush nearly as often as maybe I should. Once every couple of months. In my defense I only use my foundation brush one in the morning on the clean face, then it tucked into "its place" in my train/makeup case. I never have any of my brushes sitting out exposed.

I probably should wash monthly...lazy...forgetful...not a priority... But I would certainly think daily washings is way overkill and will wear out the brush in no time.

Abrowneyegirl If you are a germ-a-phobe there is a spray you can buy at Sephora's to spray on your brush after every use it dries quickly and sanitizes your brush.{#emotions_dlg.lol} I wash my brushes once a week, but use this spray.

Yeah, I'm pretty lax about it, too. I usually think "I gotta clean my brushes" for weeks before they get to the point where I seriously have to or else they just won't do what they're supposed to. I'm just too busy with my NuFace and LightStim - only so many hours in a day. :-)

Re: For those who use a foundation brush

I use a flat head foundation brush (EcoTools) to apply my liquid makeup. After washing it does take a couple days to completely dry so, no, I don't wash it every day...more like once a week. I've never had any negative repercussions from this. Also, the only thing that removes ALL the makeup from the brush is liquid dish soap (Dawn blue liquid). I tried shampoo and facial cleansers but they always left makeup residue and didn't feel clean. The commercial makeup brush cleaners may be very effective but I just don't want to buy yet another product to clean my "not so expensive" brush. So far the brush has held up very well.

Re: For those who use a foundation brush

I don't wash my brushes daily, but I use a small amount of foundation. If I get lazy and don't wash them, my makeup gets so it doesn't go on smoothly. I can extend the time if I take a damp microfiber cloth and swirl my brush on it after I finish. Then, I try to remember to give them a good wash every month. Which reminds me, it's been a while since I've washed my brushes. {#emotions_dlg.blush}

I use a Real Techniques stippling brush and a Japonesque tapered brush, and I rinse after each use but wash w/baby shampoo about once a month. I've never noticed either an odor on the brush or breakouts so it seems like enough.

Re: For those who use a foundation brush

I have several foundation brushes and I do wash each brush after use, same with my cream eyeliner brushes. Not because of the germ issue but because the liquid/cream dries on the brush and then it is ineffective the next time I use it. Powder shadow brushes and face powder brushes are just wiped on a towel if I want to use a different color. Those brushes are washed weekly.

That's what I do, too. I also have multiple brushes I use for foundation, so that if I have a week where I don't get around to it, I have others I can use.

That's what I do- keep an old washcloth nearby and wipe it clean every day!
