Thanks Dosey. It was alot of fun. And I am with you on the no more to more!

Hope your cat is doing better. Poor baby. And you too, ouch.

How are you two doing this morning?

The cat is about the same.  Last night, my brave son decided to pick up the cat from behind the couch and take him to his room.  And that is what he did with no problem.  This morning, the cat was still on the end of DS's bed.  DS and I attempted to look at his injury, but fur was stuck to it.  When I tried to push the fur aside, the cat turned his head so that I could not see the injury, but I was able to see that it is not swollen or oozy.  The cat had not had anything to eat or drink for a while, so I took his water and food dishes to DS's room.  I put his food dish near his face, but he turned away.  Then, I put his water dish near him, and he drank quite a bit.  That made me feel better.

He really just seems lazy to me.  Maybe he is a wimp when it comes to injuries.  The last time I checked on him, he was awake and watching DS doing his homework.  I'll bet he comes downstairs soon.

My eye is fine.  When I went to sleep, it was red, swollen, and there was a lump on the bone.  This morning, all of that was gone, and it is just sore.

Thank you for asking about the cat!  Smiley Happy

My DS has a way with cats too.  He tamed the stray cat that wouldn't leave us alone.  Now she loves him and welcomes him home.  I get a nod for driving the boy home to her.

I need to plan goals for 2016 so I can make it through the holiday sales without caving.  Everything looks so PRETTY!  But I know I have many things that I can finish up in a season if I only stick to it and don't buy anything new.  I know that even a small slip up like buying just 2 or 3 nailpolishes/lipsticks/eyeshadows/fill-in-the-blank will cause a major backlog.  In the beginning of the year I purchased 3 nailpolishes which were on sale.  I still have like 10 others to use up and do you know how long it takes to use up one bottle?!  What was I thinking?  I was thinking that it's only 3 bottles on sale that were pretty cheap and I have nothing similar to it.

So this year I tried the low-buy method, slow the flow.  Just purchased a few things here and there instead of purchasing multiple back ups.  A few things here and there still pushed back my goal of a capsule makeup collection.  Even if I use up 4 lipsticks this year, if I buy a new one, that pushes back my goal another 3 months since I haven't finished the other 10 in my stash. 10 lipsticks times 3 months each is almost 3 years of lipstick to use up!

So in 2016, I REALLY need to stop the inflow for good.  Do a no-buy.  2016 is going to be 3 solid years of compacting.  Or trying to compact.  I'm no rookie.  It's time to get serious.

I've been really good about other things.  We have run out completely of toothpaste, body wash, shampoo, face soap, toilet paper, batteries before I purchase more.  I should be able to do it with makeup.

I just got done writing out a whole post and then got an authentication error. How frustrating is that.  I will write again later.  For now, Happy Halloween.  Make sure to give out more candy than you eat. Woman Very Happy

Let's see if the censors catch that.

If I had a dollar for every time that happened to me...

Before I became buried by a career change and worked for two degrees back-to-back, I had a life.  Or, at least, leisure time.  I created a blog (who didn't?) and I recall writing an amazing post one night and after clicking on a button it was gone forever.  I tried to recreate it, but the second attempt did not have the same magic.  After that, I started writing in a Word document, then copying and pasting into the thread.  When I started posting here, I lost many a post because I didn't adhere to my own policy.  In fact, I'm not adhering to it as I type this.  But whenever you feel you are in the middle of War and Peace, take a moment to stop and paste what you have into Word so you won't lose it.

Okay, Compacters, I feel the need to respectfully chime in here if I may. Just bee, I agree with dosey that you have plenty of candy.  This is based on your posts about the large number of full sized candy bars you had left over from last year (or was it the year before?).  It would be one thing if you ate them (and I am at a loss as to understand why you don't 😃), but I believe I remember reading that you eventually threw them out.  😧

So what if you run out?  Just turn off your porch light. :-)

You sound like Better-half.  I had pretty much decided that it would be necessary to hit Costco or Sam's today to pick up more bars.  But, as you say, I have had leftover candy for the past few years.  In fact, I have never run out of candy.  Ever.  So why would I think this year would yield a different result?  I should be bold.  Go with 130 bars (we lost two because a Twix was crushed in the box so I ate it; Better-half opened a bag of peanut M & Ms and gagged when he tasted one) and call it a night when I run out.  If I run out.

@OKAY.  I'm going to stick with the original plan.  Truth be told, I should be using today and tonight to work on my paper.  Two weeks left of school if this paper gets done.  But after one @#$% of a week, I'm thinking I'm taking the day off.

Like I said, I was close to buying Treat lip balm until I stood up and walked to the closet.  It takes me forever to use up one lip balm.  In fact, I recently tossed old balms and glosses that were never fully used.  I have two in the stash, untouched.  Just say no.

Remember how I thought I would die if I didn't buy that pretty Lumene product?  The "cocktail" in the bottle, a combination of different oils?  It caught my eye because it was two layers, two colors, and it reminded me of an Astro Pop.  Have I used it?  No, not really.  I recently tossed another Lumene product -- that pretty nectar -- that I thought I needed because I didn't use that one, either, and it turned.  Really, the only thing that helps is to avoid the beauty aisles.  I walk into Walgreens and the first thing I see is the beauty department.  Cue the music.  Hear that?  It's the Siren song.  I hear it and I want to go check it out.  But I have to force myself to grab what I need from the other areas of the store and get the heck out fast.  I don't even let myself look at the dog toys.  The dog does not need another stuffed squirrel.

Give yourself a month to try this and see what happens.

I hear ya, Bee!  Actually, that's how I ran out of toothpaste, toilet paper, etc.  For awhile I was avoiding going into stores with beauty aisles.  The Siren's song was too strong for me.  Everything was beautiful.  And it was on the way to the checkout.  Sneaky buggers!

I will remember that I won't die without that pretty bottle that I MAY end up using in a few years.

I loved Astro Pops!  They sure were pretty and that point got to a pretty sharp tip.  Pretty but dangerous.  Just like the beauty aisles.  Wander in and you'll stab yourself.  The lip balms used to always get me too.  Especially those cute EOS spheres.  And after I bought 3, I rarely used them because they didn't really moisturize my lips.  I finally got real & tossed them.  And I got rid of my last lipgloss the other month.  Another real moment.

I've been watching Tiny House Nation.  It's so inspiring.  I wonder if I could live in 250 sq ft?  Probably not...  But it's fun to try to mentally pare down to fit in a tiny house.  I would have to get rid of my 2 kids...  But the dog could fit.Smiley Surprised

Darn, how do I remove the spoiler tag?  Anyway, it looks like downsizing is a popular trend in the USA.  It's refreshing!

I wouldn't be surprised if Astro Pops were banned in schools today.  In fact, drawing a picture of an Astro Pop is probably banned.

I think about small spaces I've lived in and remember them fondly.  Less to keep tidy.
