@Witchy Woman  I've been using L'Oreal Paris Excellence Creme Hair Color for years.

I have noticed a change in the enclosed products and the process. In the past there was a small tube of conditioner to be used on the ends of your hair before you added the color.  Recently, I've noticed that this preconditioner is not in the package. Instead, a small tube  (the same size as the preconditioner) of shampoo to be used after you rinse out the color is included. The deep conditioner is still included as your last step.

@Shelbelle

I used Color Silk for years, but noticed that my light brown was getting progressively darker.  It was very noticeable in the sun.

Even though I avoided the ends, it was still getting color.  I switched brands and it seemed to even out.

@shy bobcat

It must have occurred during my last few rounds of stocking up.

It is the same little tube I remembered, but a different product.

As soon as I like something, it changes. Cat LOL

That sounds like what I do with my Loreal Feria in Deeply Brown/Espresso.  My hair is thick but layered.  I brush on some ColorWow powder in a dark brown color in between coloring.  Right now it's just my temple area.

@Witchy Woman   Not sure I understand your question.  But I use L'Oreal Excellence.  It does come with a small tube of pre-color treatment to apply to the ends.  It also comes with a conditioner.

@gidgetgh @Amulet  ... the L'Oreal Excellence has always come with the pre-color treatment to put on the ends of your hair.   I think it is what you are referring to as the small pretreatment tube.

@Boehm Collector - thanks. I've never used the pre-color treatment it so I didn't really pay attention to what it was for.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

@Witchy Woman  I use L'Oreal excellence in Light golden brown. They stopped the pre conditioner for the tips of the hair. Instead they include a small shampoo to be used after rinsing color out. Then a conditioner. I like it much better, the color is shinier.

@gidgetgh   Some posts have mentioned that the pre-color treatment has been replaced with a small tube of shampoo.   I haven't purchased any more lately because I have enough for now.   So I can't comment on that.

@Boehm Collector

It appears that's what happened.  I had stocked up several months back, and the later boxes now have the shampoo rather than the pretreatment for the ends.

The pretreatment helped the ends from getting too dark when coloring.  Although I try to keep the color on the roots, it does migrate through my hair, so it was very helpful.

I guess it's too late now unless you happened to find older stock.
