I have never used color myself, unless you want to count the time when I was 13 and had my friend spray pure hydrogen peroxide all over my hair. That didn't go over well with TPTB. :-)
I am heeding the mandate to stay in as much as possible. So I really wouldn't be able to shop for color anyway.
I think I am with you. Haven't colored my own hair since I was in the teens. I get so many compliments on my color that I know I would mess it trying to do it myself. Will just have to be patient. Besides my length and thickness will be so disgusting anyway so the color won't much matter.

@DianeJ2 wrote:I've never done roots myself but yikes my greys with my dark chocolate hair color in the last week are awful. I would have to spray a can of touch up daily! My stylist will fix it when the time comes I'm sure. I ordered dp hue root touch up from their web site. A girlfriend recommended to me. We will see!
@DianeJ2 Not sure if you're venturing out or not. When my hair was dark, white roots showing before time for color appt., I used my mascara along the part and then used a brow spoolie to comb it through.

@AuntG wrote:My root touch up (Clairol) contains a little brush to easily put on the color. I find it blends nicely so I don't think you have to worry about it looking glaringly dufferent. Just pick a color close to your current color, whether it be dark blonde or medium brown.....
@AuntG I always found the shades were darker than they appeared on the box or the name implied. Anyone go a shade lighter?

I have medium brown hair with several random grey hairs sprouting
around my forehead.
CVS Carepass sent me a 40% Off coupon for any L’Oreal temporary
touch up products.......
......so I picked up a can of Root Rescue (the TV commercial where the actress sweeps all the blue cans into her basket).
There weren’t many color choices.....Medium brown is my preference, but there was only Dark or Light brown.
I went with the Light, since I’ve heard older women should “go lighter” as they age! lol
Im very nervous to actually use it.....will I get it all over my head? Face?
Does it rub off if you sweat a lot while jogging?
The worst that can happen is——-I end up washing it out.
(I understand this is a “first world problem” in these times. Very trivial of course. Just a distraction).
@JumpTheRope I may be too late with my advice if you've already applied the color, but to keep color off your face, put some Vaseline, Aquafor, hair gel, etc. around your hair line...keeps the stuff off where you don't want it.

I found what @Shanus said to be true for me. If you are medium Brown and only light or dark are available, go with light brown.

@AuntG I've gotten stuck doing hair on set or shoots when the hair stylists didn't show. Apologies if it seems I'm passing along a lot of replies on various subjects re: beauty. If it's hair, makeup, skincare, etc....been there, done that.

Hi @Shanus! that's a brilliant idea thank you! I have a chocolate Brown base, mahogany reddish balyage so boy does the white glow lol Makes me feel/look drained, its more for me to cover them. I started staying home a few weeks before everyone else (have autoimmune issues) and i canceled a hair appointment then when all was open. I had a sinus infection and didn't want to bring anything in to my stylist. Been inside ever since.... I will try the mascara until I attempt the root kit. Thanks! 😊
