I probably wouldn’t have said anything either. Most times they just show up the next day like nothing happened

That is why is it good to have a friendly relationship with your delivery drivers.  This works if you always have the same drivers.  Unfortunately over the past couple of years ours are constantly changing.  Ours would even call at times to see if we were home, if not he would bring it the next day. (I am sure he only did this when he had no other deliveries in our immediate area.)
