Where I am confused is if we call ahead and tell them not to deliver and reschedule then why should we be charged.?

Because, as I explained upthread, you're asking them to find that exact package in their warehouse, move it to a different area and load onto a different truck.   That's additional labor dollars they didn't expect to use. Crystal clear

I wouldn't trust that.  I've shipped and received packages that had some sort of special handling and I've received a bill afterward.  UPS counts every cent.

However, if you have My Choice as I and several others do, these are the differences in charges.  The person you spoke to may have thought you have this service.  (Not sure why this says $9.99 and you were told $11, may be something to do with the signature required)

If you have to sign for it, they can't deliver it and will have to come back, so what's the problem?  Your situation ought to correct itself.

ITA ... I don't see a problem, either.

Assuming the OP is just gone for the day, not for a few days or a week.

Having said that, I wouldn't order something if I was going to be out of town during the delivery timeframe, but that's me.

@Group 5 minus 1. 8 think you're making a mountain out of a molehill.  UPS always makes several attempts to deliver a pkg requiring a signature so what's the problem?

And I should have known better than to try to explain it 3 times

I set up a MyChoice account on UPS.com. I can go in and change delivery online.

Another option....when you set up MyChoice, add the option to have UPS deliver everything that would normally be dropped off at UPS for delivery in a day or three.  It's $20 a year. I do this and love it.

UPS is a business shipping millions of packages every day. Imagine going through many thousands of packages to find just one. It takes people and time. $11 seems cheap for that.
