@On It  Things are bad here.  Wind is terrible.  Visibility is reduced just looking across my street.  The is a new fire in Cloudcroft area, one in Datil and one near Cimmeron.  They are evacuating the Philmont Boy Scout Ranch.  There are a couple of grass fires in the Eastern Plains.  High profile vehicles were told to park it and stay off the highways.

I hope the wind doesn't whip up the Ruidoso fire.

My over the air QVC stations just went off the air.  I guess the wind got the antennas on the crest.  I can't even see the mountains.

@Kachina624

The town of Monte Vista was on our local news just the other day. There was a bad fire which burned down 4 homes. The wind all over the state is really not helping the fire situ here either. There were evacuations in a suburban development just north of Colorado Springs caused from a car just driving by which sparked a grass fire. My humidity gauge is reading 1%. The wind is gusting 60mph.

@Kachina624  What does your topic mean?

@Kachina624 That is the worst news possible. I just can't believe the conditions are this bad. This morning we received a text, an email, and a phone call from Ruidoso's warning system advising residents of high winds (70 mph) and to watch for falling trees.

The McBride Fire is mostly contained. Yesterday it was downgraded and the firefighters began leaving. I know there is still one area on the eastern flank that wasn't marked as contained. I am very concerned about its flaring up. I hope there are enough firefighters left to hold it.

The whole state is a tinderbox. I wish they would close the forests to campers until we get some moisture. Thank you for thinking of me. I appreciate your updates. I didn't know about Cloudcroft. Please keep the updates coming if there are any.

@SilleeMee   I know Monte Vista well.  I would have been born there if they'd had a hospital as that's where my parents lived.  Instead they went down the road to Del Norte.  I'd guess our wind is at least 60mph too.

Yes, you told me that your parents were from MV. That's why I mentioned the fire there.

Around here in the middle of suburban Colorado Springs there have been some backyard fires from people using gas grills in this wind...foolish!! and dangerous. No one is immune to this fire danger we are in right now. Another fire got started from homeless encampment and that one was right next to some more suburban houses.

Yikes!  That's sounding frightening. Everyone heed all precautions and stay safe.

@SilleeMee    We have a constant problem with homeless people trying to camp in the wooded bosque right in the middle of the city.  The fire department is right there at the sight of the first wisp of smoke plus they patrol it constantly.

We have a house fire here in Rio Rancho right now and a fire has broken out in the nearby Jemez Mountains.  Every newscast reports a new fire...or two.

I just had to pull my big garbage can off of a rose bush where the wind blew it.

Yikes, you guys stay safe ❤️ It sounds awful.  We never had really bad winds with our fires last year, a blessing.
